I sit on the throne of a god
in the heart of the seas."
But you are a man and not a god,
though you think you are as wise as a god.

“Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.” 13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.”
This is not an earthly king, as the word "cherub" is only used in references to angels.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
The word "covering" is from the Hebrew word cakak, and means: to entwine, to fence in, cover over, protect, defend, hedge in, (source "The complete word study Old Testament")
Was Lucifer’s job to protect the very earth he corrupted? Was this one of his duties that gave him so much pride?
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

It is accepted that the chapter is about Lucifer after all if you had of read the chapter it says the King ofd Tyra was a cherub and was there when the universe and eden were created. All the bible sites I looked at about it atribute that chapter to Lucifer.

the origins of this Lucifer myth

Lucifer was originally a Latin word meaning "light-bearer" (from lux, "light", and ferre, "to bear, bring"), a Roman astrological term for the "Morning Star", the planet Venus. Biblical origins

The Jewish Encyclopedia reports that "it is obvious that the prophet in attributing to the Babylonian king boastful pride, followed by a fall, borrowed the idea from a popular legend connected with the morning star".[1] However, this metaphorical "falling from the heavens" was later misinterpreted as a literal fall from heaven when the passage's original meaning was made opaque by retranslations and eventually forgotten.

Later Jewish tradition, influenced by Babylonian mythology acquired during the Babylonian captivity, elaborates on the fall of the angels under the leadership of Samhazai ("the heaven-seizer") and Azael (Enoch, book vi.6f). Another legend, in the midrash, represents the repentant Samhazai suspended star-like between heaven and earth instead of being hurled down to Sheol.

The Helel-Lucifer (i.e. Venus) myth was later transferred to Satan, as evidenced by the 1st-century pseudepigraphical text Vita Adae et Evae (12), where the Adversary gives Adam an account of his early career,[2] and the Slavonic Book of Enoch (xxix. 4, xxxi. 4), where Satan-Sataniel (Samael?) is also described as a former archangel. That is all well and good but Lucifer being a Christian myth has nothing to do with Judism, otherwise they would be the same religion.

Yes but Christian religion is very different than Jewish, after all the editing and mistranslation and the common meaning drift by translating a translation of a translation, Christianity's version is much different than theirs.
I mean we all know their is evidence that shows that the Creation myth si most likely a rip off of Babylonian myth, we know that there are alot of common factors in Christianity and the worship of Mythras. But it is a important difference, Christian believe in the Christian myths, Jews believe in the Jewish myths, not all of them are the same.
Lucifer is a soley Christian myth. Jesus is a Christian myth so moving on.

satan was a cherub, not just your "regular" angel, he was one closest to God, but one of the beautiful things about God is that He gave all beings (angels are created beings) free will, and so satan chose to depart from God, and he is certainly real, believe in him because satan definitely believes in you!

actually he's got a point, i've been recently studying aspects of religious demonology, and each distinct religion has it's own version of the heavenly hosts an their fallen counterparts...they even can't unify on the fact if they're female and male, or strictly male that utilze the female form to tempt and seduce.

there's christian demonology(all male) and then there's islam, judaism and zoroastrianism demonology(both sexes)and more kinfolk than anything the christians came up with...however influenced they may have been by judaism.

actually scholars believe that judaism received their version of demonolgoy influenced by zoroastrianism, an even older form of religion.

a couple of things, yes satan was a fallen angel whose angelic name is Satanial. As for Lucifer, he does not exist. It was the fault of the greeks that created Luicifer as his name appears no where in the original version of the bible. The translation from hebrew to Greek was messed up and Lucifer was created. the actual translation would have been howl not lucifer.

Yeah. As far as I heard "Satanial" Was the term for the 10th chorus of angels. So it was more a rank than a name.


However, I still find this thread bizarre. Satan is a product of the Judaeo-Christian mythos. The bible states he was a "fallen" angel. So of course, he is/was.

If you mean is the corporeal existance of a divine evil the christian one, or is there is an actual evil entity, that is a different question.
