Today I had a Jahovas Witness corner me and have a conversation... after I told her that I was one of many pagans seeking a society where religions can be around and open without others jumping on each others throat with " OUR RELIGION IS RIGHT" or "Thats BULLSHIT"...

she told me thats not possible because her religion states that its the right religion, which gets on my nerves because obviously other people as well as other countries disagree due to the religious wars that were and are still being fought.

Does anyone else think that a society that is based upon many different religions, not just a few majorities, is possible? that if we can do that we can create a lasting peace betwix religions if not in a normal society?

Not really. Look at Ireland, they have practically the SAME religion and they fight over it. Islam cannot exist with ANY other religion peacefully and Wicca/paganism is just commercialism with a fake celtic twist... so I dunno.

I appreciate your opinion and it has been duely noted. even though I disagree with the Wicca/paganism bit, but I thank you anyways for your opinion.

Does it make sense? I dunno.. I guess so. I tend not to take life altering spiritual meaning from Keven Smith comedies, but I guess we all gotta start somewhere.

Also I am about 1 step from becomming an ancient buddhist with a mix of shintoism and bushido, just because I like using 5 dollar words and carrying a big sword around.

If you're looking for a society where you can mix religions freely, move to Japan. You can be born indoctrinated into Shinto, marry in a Christian ceremony, and have a Buddhist priest perform your furnerary rites.

Yeah, moving to Japan with the plan of finding racial and social harmony and tolerance is... kind of a bad plan. You have to remember that this is the country where there were huge protests over Battle Royale. Not because it was too violent. Because it showed the kids rebelling against the school authorities.

I think such a society is possible. In fact, we're in it. Religous freedom means the freedom to evangelize as well as express. If Jehovah's Witnesses yell at you that you're going to burn in Hell, that's all well and good. That's their expression of their religious beliefs; your ass frying in a lake of fire unto the ends of time. It's only opression if they do something to make you physically or legally compelled to stick around and listen to their ranting, or hold hot irons to your feet until you repent or whatever.

Who cares? Even if you had everyone unified under a single religion, there would still be dissention within THAT religion. It's human nature to always believe yourself to be right and that what you believe is the ultimate truth. If you're secure in your own beliefs, then you shouldn't care if other people are trying to force what they believe on you.

Pretty much, yeah. And arguments only break out if you're stupid enough to argue your religous beliefs.

In a perfect world it could be possible.
But human nature will interfere, most people don't take the time to look into or try to understand other peoples religions and most people feel the need to preach and convert others.
Now, I don't mind that they try to tell about their religion, I never shut the door to such people, but it would be so much better if they would accept no for an answer after that and show me the same respect as I showed them ;-) That could save a lot of irritation generally.

They don't believe in "Hell".

If there is a real, perfect, whole God, which there is, then he would most assuredly never reveal his true self to anyone but he would give prophets like Ezekiel real, perfect glimpses of a perfect living spirit that he created that flows through the hearts of the planets, ever feeding the energy of that planet until it becomes a star. That perfect living spirit is us.
