i don't think one needs religion for faith, anyone can find faith in something, perhaps it's a faith in nothing that sustains atheists, i don't know.

i suppose we'd have to come up with a definition of religion that suits everyone in order to get down to the specifics if atheism can be considered a religion or not.

of course it's possible to be an atheist and have doubts, just as it is to be a christian and have doubts. i'm going to go out on a limb here and say this: no christian has ever lived that never questioned the existence of god, and no atheist has ever lived that never questioned the absence of god. questioning your faith doesn't shatter it.

Atheism takes no faith. I hate it when people say you have to have faith to be an atheist. There is no logical, scientific, realistic evidence pointing to the existence of God, therefore to not believe in god is the most logical and realistic action you can take. Of course an atheist can have doubts, why couldn't he? The thing is, most atheists will think "hmm, wonder if I'm wrong about all this" then shrug his shoulders and move on.... because he just doesnt give a shit. A religious person having a crisis of faith will put their life on hold.

Thats because those people are arrogant and self righteous. The self righteous come in all types, religious and non religious.

oh, and i almost forgot to point out that wavering from complete atheism doesn't make you a non-atheist. jesus. as long as you're just wavering, not going for good. the same is true of religious beliefs. christians can doubt and then wake up christians the next morning, or atheists. same with atheists. you dig?

Ya, some athiests are very vocal about atheism. Yeah, Christians and other religious denominations aren't much better, but at least they don't talk up the theory of evolution on end.

If evolution seems "off" then you are a fucking idiot. IT IS THE BASIS FOR ALL BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE. The reason that atheists "talk up the theory of evolution" is because the theory of evolution is a reality and anybody who talks out against it is talking out against knowledge and waving the flag of fucking ignorance. When someone doesnt believe in Christ the christian sadly shakes his head and worries for his soul. When a religious nutbag doesnt believe in evolution I shake my head and worry that that ignorance is going to be passed on to the nutbags children, and be in our school systems. Ignorance, under the guise of any religion, is bad for society at large. It slows and hinders the advancement of technology and research. With less people believing in evolution, less people taking up the trade in their adult lives, we'll have less disease cures, we'll have less people that care and more who want to leave it in the hands of a fairy-tale god who doesn't exist.

I honestly doubt they do. I always hear about these oppressive Christians who are forcing thier views on everyone and I start to feel left out. I havent gotten a single pamphlet, flier, or even a harsh glare from a Christian trying to get me to join thier church.. not so much as a peep. I have however been insulted by 100s of rabid elitest douchebag athiest cocksuckers who think I am a redneck and inferior intellectually to them because I think Christian values deserve respect.
