Seductive Sewage
(II Corinthians 7:1)
I was visiting an Indian reservation in the Southwest and I was staying with friends there. When I woke up in the morning, I looked out and saw some beautiful scenery – it was sort of beckoning me to go for a walk and see it. I hadn’t gone far when I saw this beautiful pond up ahead on the right. Now this is almost desert – so a body of water is really something special. The early morning sun was just gleaming on the water – it looked so inviting, so refreshing. I was headed down to play around that pond when I noticed a sign identifying what tribal department was in charge of this. All I remember is one word – “sewage”. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Well, I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A WORD WITH YOU today about SEDUCTIVE SEWAGE.

That pond looked so inviting. It turned out to be sewage. Just like some of the material you can find on the Internet these days . . . in magazines . . . in movies and videos. The sewage is called pornography.

Just like that pond I saw, it can feel like there’s a magnet pulling you toward sexually oriented materials. It can look exciting and inviting. But we’re talking sewage here that will foul your mind, your soul, and your relationships. And it’s more than a pond – it’s quicksand. It’s easy to get into. It’s very hard to get out of.

Satan is smart enough to know that you’re not going to go for something ugly or boring. The Bible describes your enemy’s traps this way in James 1:14-15. “Each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived (it starts as just a ‘want to’), it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown, gives birth to death.” When you feed a wrong desire, it grows into active sin – and sin always kills something that matters to you. First, sin fascinates you; then it assassinates you.

Our word for today from the Word of God is for someone listening today – someone who is curious about, or flirting with, or even trapped in the sewage of pornography. II Corinthians 7:1 says, “Since we have these promises, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit.” Now, what promises are they talking about here which should motivate us to take a spiritual shower and wash off the contaminants?

In the verses right before, God says you are “the temple of the living God” . . . “Touch no unclean thing . . . I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” If you belong to Jesus, then the Most Holy God lives in you, and you are a son or daughter of the Most High. So how can you pollute God’s temple, God’s blood-bought child with what you’ve been looking at?

Porno-sewage stirs up desires that torment you . . . it makes you disrespect yourself from shame . . . it distorts your marriage relationship with twisted images of sex . . . it sows dissatisfaction with your mate . . . it sets you up for an awful fall . . . and it robs you of God’s blessing and His power in your life.

When I realized that inviting pond was sewage, I knew what to do – get out as fast as I could. That’s what you need to do. Repent at Jesus’ cross . . . find someone to hold you accountable . . . turn off or cut off whatever access you have for that junk. . . fill up your heart with God’s Word. Run from that stuff – it is sewage that can sink you!

Hi, my name is Kitashla, and I look at pornography. You should see the collection I have on my computer.

Guess what. My husband has quite a collection on his at well.

Sometimes we look at it by ourselves, more often we look at it together.

It has not contaminated us, it has not hurt us, and it has not defiled us.

Our marriage is just as strong as ever, and it has not caused any problems in our marriage.

Here's a simple fact for your little friend (as so far you seem capable of posting anything that is of your own creation.)

God created man as a sexual being. Now in many cases I think god screwed up. (Come on, a man's sexual peak is at 18 and a woman's sexual peak is at 30? Anyone else see anything incredibly unfair about that? *grin*)

As this sexual being, he put different quirks. It is a documented fact that men are stimulated by the visual. You see a nicely built woman, and your mind starts thinking sex. Nothing wrong with that. That is the way you are made.

A man does not look at pornography because he's going to commit some obscene vile act. (Well, unless you consider masturbation a vile act.)

Do you have any idea how much of the population looks at pornography. Just about all of it. Logically, that should mean there are alot more messed up people out there because of it.

But there aren't, which means that it's not true.

Yes, many rapists and serial killers look at pornography. Which actually means diddly squat when you realize that nearly the entire male population views pornography on a regular basis.

I hate it so much when these types of people start at point A and some how get to point D because it sounds good.

Pornography does not cause twisted views on sex. Most pornography that is viewed is simply pictures of naked women. Not exactly twisted. There is a market out there for beistiality and other such odd fetishes, but that was there before the pornography.

Pornography did not cause odd fetishes, the odd fetishes created the pornography.

My father is an avid porn collector. (You should see the stuff he has, it's down right scary.) Him and my step mother have had and still have a wonderful relationship. It has never ONCE caused a problem in their marriage. They are happy with each other completely. My father would never think to look at another women for sex, and he respects my step mother like she is a goddess. But yet the man looks at porn quite frequently. So I fail to see how this has wrecked their marriage.

There are marriages that are ruined by pornography, but it is never technically the pornographies fault. If I were to take it into my head that I didn't like my husband looking at porn, because it made me feel bad, my husband would stop.

Because he respects me and my feelings. In the cases where porn has broken up the relationship, the person does not respect their spouse. There would be problems eventually. The porn was just easy to use as the scapegoat for the individual that couldn't be bothered enough to actually care about their mate.

Pornography doesn't break up marriages, people do.

So, I can politely tell your friend (and you if you support it) to take your own sexual issue's else where. I'm not buying.

This guy sounds an awful lot like this freak here that's trying to get all the books banned from the library that have any sexual references at all. I have an intense dislike for him.

He started reading My Secret Garden outloud to illustrate how evil the book was. He completely left out the parts that dealt with the psyche of a woman and her sexuality in today's society and dealing with the demons of rape and self loathing. He thought it would be more fun to read the "dirty parts".

Twenty years ago this guy would have been the same guy insisting Huckleberry Finn needed to be banned as well.

I had never even heard of bestiality before until I was a teenager and my knowledge was gained from a friends porn mag. Not through pictures, but a story. And it was disgusting. I know nothing of you or your family and if your mother has passed away I am deeply sorry for what I am about to say. Is there any chance that your dad is remarried because pornography affected the relationship between your mother and him? And how do you know? Are you going to speak for you stepmom? I would like to ask her myself what she thinks of your dad's "scary" porn collection and if she in any way feels maybe just a little cheated on? For obviously she is not the main attraction of your dad's eyes. Why does he have such a "scary" collection of pornography and yet has been married at least twice? Can you say addiction?

Now you can see a good looking woman and start thinking about sex and start thinking about how nice it would be to have sex with your wife. But either way, the mind still goes to sex. It is made that way. God made it that way.

YES, those people look at porn. But so does almost the entire male population!!!! Another case of starting at A and coming to X. Roughly about 98% of the adult male population has looked at pornography. And until more then 50% starts mass murdering people, then you have no case.

Also, something for you to note. I was raped at the age of 14. I was a late bloomer so at 14 I looked like I was 12. The man that raped me was 39 or 40. And I know for a fact that he never looked at pornography. That is something I absolutely know.

But the bulk of the male population has viewed it. And by your logic that means all of the male population should be psychotic murderers. Ok, I'm going to use myself and my husband in personal examples here. I have seen quite a bit of stuff that would be considered odd fetishes. Beastiality among them.

Guess what, it still grosses me out. I still think it's weird. I've seen it many times. I hate the stuff. I don't understand how anyone could find that erotic.

MOST people, when they look at porn, they are either looking at images of naked men, naked women, or two people having sex. (Sometimes 3 or 4). A very insignificantly small part of the population looks at pictures of people having sex with animals and small children. (And guess what, that guy that like to look at pictures of small children? He's going to molest a child anyway, with or without ever having viewed a picture.)

Ahh, but she is. And your just too clueless to realize it. My father was a hippy. He carroused around and had sex with so many different women becuase it was that whole free love era thing. (No, he never looked at porn during that time period. I know you're hoping he did, so your logic might actually work, but he didn't.) After divorcing my mom (they should never have been married in the first place they are just too different from each other) he did his own thing and then met my step mother.

And he does worship her. And no, I know she doesn't feel cheated on at all. My father is still a very attractive man, and is flirted with frequently. And every time he starts talking about how wonderful his wife is. My step mother knows he gets flirted with, but she's not insecure in the least. She knows that my father loves her and only her.

Yes, my father thinks of sex when he see's an attractive woman. But here's the problem. You seem to equate thinking of sex meaning that you must go out and do it. I'm saying that it crosses your mind.

My father has stated repeatedly (even when my step mother is no where in the area) that he can't imagine being with any one other then my step mom. He may look at porn, he may have collections, but he's only happy when he's with her. The porn is just something fun. (I think the biggest kick he gets is finding something really outrageous and emailing it to his friends so they can be grossed out.)

I know my stepmother doesn't feel cheated on, because not only does she have her own collection (women tend to go more for stories then pictures) but because she is secure in her relationship with my father. I know that's a hard concept to grasp, but both her and my father are completely happy with each other. Just as my husband and I are. But by your logic, we shouldn't be.

And you know what, I may some day be your sons teacher. And you know what? You'll never ever know. You will have no idea what I believe and you'll probably think I am the greatest teacher in the world.

Oh, by the way, did I mention I have children of my own? So far what I believe hasn't hurt her at all either. We are very strict about many things. For starters she will never be allowed on the internet unattended until she is at least 16. It's a strict rule. You avoid many problems that way.

The other is that my daughter will never EVER in a million years be left alone with the man that raped me. (Yes, I still see him frequently.) We are happy with each other. We are going through some of the greatest years our marriage has ever had. He's working like a dog (70 hours a week...I hate new business) but we still love each other as much (maybe more) as we ever have. We are partners and trust each other completely.

I have absolutely no worries that he will cheat on me, and he has none on my end as well. We communicate constantly. And that's the key to a healthy marriage. Communication. I know exactly how he feels about something and he knows how I feel. There's never any walking on eggshells, there's never any worrying about what the other person may be thinking. We complete each other.

But we still look at porn, so it must mean that we are struggling. It MUST mean that we have problems. It has to. You said it did.

I am sorry, very sorry that your innocense was taken from you as a young girl. It has been my experience from the young people that I have counceled that have been in pornography, that the images they have seen and that they allow to permeate their mind, has a HUGE affect on them. They said they become desensitized to seeing just a "naked woman" and need harder and harder porn to satisfy their desires for lust. Just like with violence on TV and the movies, the more you see, the more you become desensitzed to it and need stronger visuals to stimulate the urge that will satiate the lust.

Not every case is the same obvisously but you so wrongly assume and lump together so much that it is painful to read. So, there is NO way I or anyone else can explain to you how or why you were raped without the stimulus of pornography. Here is some information for you Katishla. When I was a teenager, I found some porno magazines that my brother had. My friends and I had a collection that we kept in the woods. So, NO, I absolutely know for a fact that porn affects people differently. NONE OF US ARE KILLERS. I never lump EVERYONE in the same catagory with such a broad brush. I don't do it. I gave you specific examples didn't I? Please go back and read it again.

After reading and re-reading this last post of yours I understand how and why you so staunchly defend ponography. It is evident that it has a strong place in your life and has for some time.
I will tell you that as a loving husband and father and a God fearing man, that I feel bad for your children and your marriage. You and I will never agree on this subject and I understand that.

But please stop lumping all people together with those that are in the same catagory as you. Not every man thinks sex when he sees a beautiful woman. The men and women that are in my life and church do not look at pornography, have no need to, have no desire to and see it as a sin.

Porn is not the devil's fucking right hand. I don't know where you get off believing that every single solitary person who looks at porn must be a sexual offender of sorts.

Pyrric and I have been married for nearly a year now and see no problem looking at porn together and even seperately. Yes, we do tease each other about it and even test out the waters, so to speak, on each other's fantasies and/or preferrences. Does this mean we want to rape a four year old? No.

Also, on your mention of Ted Bundy. He was a deranged man...also an extremely intelligent one. Many serial killers/rapists have above average IQ levels and seem to believe they are above the law of man. As I recall Bundy's porn addiction was never brought into question. Many of these persons have been diagnosed with some sort of sexual deviation and do not simply "attack" for the simple reason that porn looked good and appealed to their "odd fetishes".

Shit, I love S&M...I adore it with all of my heart and frequent in the lifestyle in our bedroom. Does this make me kill people? No. Does this tell me I need to rape a man because the women may do it on the website? No. Are there hidden words in the porn pictures? No.
