Well I hate/love myself for being a burden, but while asto projection is neat there are some down sides.

I read once that some people are more inclined to involve themselves in magick because sometimes in the birth of a person a rift is formed usually out of stress from the parents or by naming a child before they are born. This causes a shifts in the Quabala (the three pillars of eleven dimensions). A spirit meant to be born in one dimension is oddly placed in another. The feelings stem from someone who has returned to their natural dimension after leaving the last and one who is new in this dimension.

Astro projection can stay with in this dimension, however, it leaves your body open for another spirit to move in on. When you return there might be another there already. Spit-personalities can be formed this way.

Another risk is becoming too fond of feeling returned to home. Spending too much time in another dimension you were not born in can be like a drug. Becoming to familiar with a reality you don't live in can disorientate you to this one. One thing I can think of to return a more natural balance is reading your astrology. Some books tell you the colors you should be wearing. It is all normalcy that you will see people doing it all the time without thought, but those who have been displaced at one time or another need to logically approach the problem not try and hide.

Having a firm grip on this dimension is important before going off to experience the other ones.

Before this gets too far a long, I should mention that according to Quabala God still over sees all the realms. It shouldn't worry you about whether you are in the right place or not, because there is still a purpose in everything.

I believe it is like an exchange program. It seems a lot of people feel elven. It is an almost parallel plane. Sure it is said to be green, plush and more magical, however, recognizing the greater purpose of being born to this plane is helpfull.

Everyone wants to be among their own to where they feel they belong, however, what if your one true love was always born to the same plane you are on. If you opt out they are just stranded alone.

If what you said about certain people being born with their subtle bodies misplaced, and that it will have an affect on the likeliness of their bodies being possessed during a projection is true, then wouldnt they be as good as screwed over by now :\ and every time they go to sleep...

If the astral is the dream world, then it's as dangerous as a dream and you're as likely to be possessed or not accessible when you get back as you are every night - aka not at all :\
You'd have to be incredibly weak minded to have your body stolen, although the fact that the etheric body would still reside within the physical during a projection of the astral double raises my doubts as to how possible it even is to become possessed.

On another note, AFAIK the astral resides in the 4th dimension, the mental plane in the 5th, so on and so forth, but don't quote me on that - its indirect knowledge.
