I thought that this would be an interesting topic to bring up. I know very little about it myself but I'm sitting here listening to Finale-Presto of Beethoven's VIII (the 9th). I looked at the clock timer for the piece and relized that it last exactly 23 minutes and 33 seconds as performed by the Zagreb philharmonic.
I have a vague notion of the meanings of the numbers 23 and 33, anyone want to explain it in depth for my enjoyment?

Oh, fine than. 23 Represents "the principle of organization 3, acting on the differentiation of the world in spirit and matter 20, to allow precisely the incarnation of the spirit in the matter, 2 + 3 = 5", according to R. Allendy.
Thus we have a reference to alchemy transformation from a base into a higher more refined substance, 23 also figures into many cosmic and earthly phenomenon and incidences. Making it something of a cosmic number.
On number 33: According to R. Allendy, "this number shows the free activity of the being in the organization of the world. (...) It shows the free creature related to the plans of the Creator by links of justice and love or by the providential intermediaries". This number is seen thus connected to the Karma - 3 + 3 = 6.
Thus the VIII symphony can be interpreted as symbolic of mans transformation into a higher cosmic state through the seeking of their creator and the realization of a loving brotherhood of all humanity. Pretty much the same thing that Beethoven was trying to state with the symphony but i still thought it was a really cool synchronization.

numerology is interesting...but once you figure out your numbers...i really don't see much more of a use for it...i'm a six for name and nine for birthdate

I used to play around with basic numerology as a kid...but I don't remember much of it. And checking the numbers for every day was pretty much pointless. But I was born in Venus, I think, number six. Which represented extravagance, romance, luxury, etc. Very feminine. My total number used to be 2, the moon number, also feminine, but when I changed my last name when I turned 18 I became a number 1, the sun...agressive, masculine, first in line. Bah. I preferred the moon. I have a book on it...somewhere, if I find it I'll look up some more.
I know it mentioned 22 specifically though...if 22 came up, you shouldn't change it, except to calculate your final number. A 22 person was destined to be in the front line, energetic, charismatic, freedom fighter, always with a clear goal and determined to reach it...the one walking in the front of any political demonstration. I think my daughter is a 22...
Basic numerology is very uncertain though...if you get a certain result from, for instance, your first name, like my daughter, you share that destiny with everyone who shares your first name. All of a sudden there can be a whole lot of born leaders in the world...
You promised me the ending would be clear
You'd let me know when the time was now
Don't let me know when you're opening the door
Stab me in the dark, let me disappear

That's interesting, I love synergy (i.e. coincidences). It's too late in the evening for me to be typing out my personal knowledge on Numerology, which would mean referring to my books to verify etc. So I have gone the supremely lazy way and surfed the net to contribute a bit of info.
The thing about numbers and their importance in your life is, you will see the appearance of certain numbers with increasing frequency and therefore it would be interesting to check out their significance.
I prefer to make use of the Chaldean system of Numerology, here's the difference between the two schools of thought.
"Various sources, such as Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher, the ancient Chaldeans, the mystic and mysterious Brahmins of India, and the sages of ancient China, are given credit for the formation of Numerology. Among these, the Chaldean and Pythagorean schools of numbers are the most widely used.
Although the Chaldean numerology is older, the Pythagorean system of numbers is far more popular.
No one has yet traced out the exact date of the origin of numerology or numbers. Suggestions about Numerology are made in the holy books like the Bible, the Talmud, the Koran and even in the Egyptian book of the dead.
The Chaldean system has its roots in Ancient Babylon. It is connected to the Vedic System of India and the Kabbalah System of the Hebrew mystics. As per the Chaldean System every letter has a unique vibration, and numbers are assigned to letters based on the vibration value. The 9 is considered holy and therefore is kept apart from other vibrations, except when it results as the sum of vibrations (e.g., from an individual's name and/or birthday)."
You get Key numbers, which are singular digits. Master numbers, which cannot be deduced to a single number, those being 11 and 22. And you get Compound numbers, which speaks for itself really.
23 Would be reduced to 5, which is represented by the planet Mercury. Here's a bit of info I managed to quickly find:
"For you, Number 5, the lessons here are communication
in any form. Freedom to explore with your curious
mind the changes you are most apt to instigate. You have an
inner need to move, whether it be mentally or physically.
A need to experience life from every angle. Keep
looking, you will find them all."
33 Would become 6, which is represented by the planet Venus:
"For the one with a number 6, Life will hand you the lessons
of love, beauty, community, family and your
ability to use your keen sense of discernment and compassion.
To understand that miracles can and do happen every day."
Yes you can calculate your entire birth number (year and date etc.) or you can use your birth day number only. It's not a "method" it forms part of the whole process of getting closer to understanding someone/something through the use of numbers.
Single numbers represent what a person or entity (house, book, anything) appears to be in the eyes of others. They are numbers of individuality and personality.
Compound numbers reveal or indicate the karmic influences.
You can use the birthday number and the entire name of a person together to derive the appropriate numbers to do a reading. Or you can just do the full name when you don't know the birth date of a person or entity.
I prefer the Chaldean system which does not make use of number 9 in the diagram to calculate, I also feel it's far more accurate than anything else.
