OK, over on SB this guy Es Arkaja is proveing to be a Samichking level F***tard about only wanting to equate a horned god and it's followers with satan (He also has no Idea about Anton LeVey, or who he is).
I need arguments that might help me win this fight. I've already called on all the SAIRT members so SB reinforcements should be at the thread shortly.
The debate about Satanism starts in the middle of the first page.
Satan = Concept of absolute evil. A former angel fallen from heaven after opposing God because of his jealousy of the humans. Incapable of "good" to anyone - although capable of temptation with malicious intent - as is "Absolute Evil."
La Veyan Point of View
Satan = The concept of humanities basic instinct and foundation. The carnal energy within each human animal that should be harnessed and used for the benefit of the person and not subdued as it is in Christianity and other percieved "herd-mentalities."
Trad-Satanist Point of View (often "Luciferian," see "The Difference Between Satan and Lucifer" thread.)
Satan = An archetypal God of evil, in one form or another (see Pan, Set, Tezcatl Ipoca, etc.) that will provide the worshipper/follower with power and that it is the worshipper/follower's goal to imitate. Best sources on this are the essays from the Temple of Set webpage on What Set Is.

NB: Above is "My Opinion of Other Peoples Opinions." I.E it is not a direct source and does not claim to be deffinitive. However, it is designed to serve the purpose of illustrating the fact that "Satan" is many things to many people.
Satanists call themselves that for the PR as LaVey was a showman.Dispite what the last poster said on his opinions of closed mindedless, its a wonder how easily he(?) partly contradicted himself by being instantly judgemental which is true narrowmindedness.I can see how he would think that christains shouldnt be made more to blame with the state of the western would, after all wiccians kill millions dont they?
Saying someone is scum because they worship/admire an evil entity is also foolish to anyone who would believe that people have the right to say what is good and evil themselves and not a out of date book, that may not be the case with anyone there then.
It would also be good to tell them that Satan and Lucifer are not one and the same.
Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.
Although it could be considered easy to not tell the two apart. Here is the Most basic things that sperate the Two.
The Horned God is a Satyr(Hunter), and Satan is a fawn(Shepard).
Whilst the Horned God is based in Fire and Air, These elements are split between Satan and Lucifer so therefore they are out of Balance.
Now the Horned god is Primevil Sexuality, of Male Strength and Power. His Job to Hunt and Keep the Forest in Check. To also take Women and Take them well, i.e. A Dominant Male.
Whereas Satan comsumes and enslaves, Without care for the Needs of Others. because He is the shepard, his followers are but his sheep.
Lastly the Homes are very different because One resides in a Forest where Dyrad Females look after the Plants and Satyrs the Animals, balance.
While Satan lives in a Cheap knock off of a Norse Goddesses Home and name, Hel.
Lastly although uninhibited sexual freedom and trust between two people could be mistaken for total Freedom and lack of restraint, it becomes clear the Difference if you look at intention. Satyrs and Dyrads work together to maintain a Balance(Man and Women as Equals), whilst Satan consumes all without balance and thinks only of self satisfaction(Rape the World to feed my Hunger).
I tend to find the lesser devils more interesting...and would prefer demonology to satanology...but necro, I like your explanation...it makes sense...I have always liked horned ones.
*sighs wistfully*
