ha...alrighty then....i have a B.A. in philosophy and actually took a "Philosophy of the Soul" course...so here ya go

i'm 23....christined or whatever a catholic, but don't give a rats ass about religion and don't really know much about it

do i believe in the soul? well now, i believe in the existence of the "metaphysical" (i.e. the soul, the mind, essence, dreams, unicorns, etc.)....i would say yes, but prefer the term mind over soul (they're interchangeble...at least in Descartes eyes) but i'd say that yes, i believe in the essence of things....everything has an essence, including your pen and paper, but the human essence is far more in comparison....

the soul/mind/essence, where does it reside? in some ways i'm a dualist, believe that mind and body are seperate, yet connected.....it obviously resides in the metaphysical as opposed to the physical....where this is located physically isn't an issue...

why i believe it exists....like i said, i believe in the metaphysical....and i could on and on and on as to why, but if you need a proof, then Descartes' "cogito ergo sum" (i think, therefore i am) is the easiest proof i can give you....

what happens to the soul when i'm asleep? not much more than when i'm awake...

what happens after death? thatz a tricky question....i of course don't believe in heaven or any of that, or any religious theory really.....but i also don't think it just disappears.....all in all though, i'd say it definately changes....the essence of death isn't the same essence of life

possible to lose the soul? absolutely not....it can change, of course, but you can never lose it....

I beleive it's outside of the physical body, but somehow attached to the mind and thought processes.

What reason do you give for believing the soul exists?

There are too many people who have witnessed after death experiences for it to be ignored. Also, OBE's must account for something, allthough I am open to the theory that this is a mechanism created by the mind to cope with death. I'm a sceptic believer.

What do you believe happens to the soul while you are asleep?

I beleive it either lay dormant, but also believe in Astral Travel. However, I have never witnessed the latter first hand.

I believe it resides on the Astral Plane. I don't believe in Heaven or Hell.

Yes. I have read articles on Cryogenics, and it's is believed that after the body dies, the soul leaves the body. As the body is dead when frozen, the soul will leave. I'm not sure if this has ever been scientifically proven though, except for an a dog, which is said to have gone mad once revived.

If no please explain: I believe that the concept of the soul was created for the human to believe in something more than their simple existance, to give them a sense of reason for being. A purpose to live and search for something that cannot be found. Religion caught on to the concept of soul as a way of controling the masses, if people didn't tow the line then their soul would be dammed forever and they would never find peace and such, those then believing in the concept of a soul would then be more open to suggestion and could be easier conditioned and controlled.

When you leave behind the concept of soul and realise you are but the collected thoughts and rationales of your own mind contained in a biological shell life becomes a much more entertaining place and leaves you free from the worries and pressures put upon those struggling with the non-freedoms structured into a controlling mechanism known as religion.

Do you believe in a soul? er, yeah, I guess so as long as you mean that what makes a person a person or a rock a rock is a soul, and I don't mean chemical makeup and as long as this isn't differentiating between souls and spirits.

I don't think so, I think souls/spirits evolve more then become missing. Yes, if the soul has changed enough, I think it is possible that one could feel that they "lost their soul," but it seems more often then not that those who seem to think they have lost them seem to find them again shortly thereafter, but they are slightly different.
