Because this is DF, I know everyone here has different faiths and different ways of expressing themselves. So, I want to know how YOU are spending your holiday season, or any little thing special or different about what you do with it.
For instance, I'm a Christian, so I celebrate christmas. We have a huge party at my grandma's house on christmas eve, and one of the cousins plays santa for all the little kids. Afterward, those of us capable of staying awake that late, go to a midnight, candlelight mass.
I'm also Japanese, so new years eve is a big deal, too. We pop fireworks like pyromainacs "to scare away evil spirits," eat special foods for luck in the coming year, and get drunk on Sake.
However, I'm also a Sci-Fi geek, so my holiday greeting is "ToDwI'ma' qoS yItIvqu' " Which is Kilingon for Merry Christmas.

The sun gives us light, but the moon provides inspiration.
If you look at the sun without shielding your eyes,
you'll go blind. If you look at the moon without
covering your eyes, you'll become a poet.

i have children, so it'll be something like this...spend christmas eve fighting the children to go to bed, at that point sneaking the gifts beneath the tree and then slipping into bed with my hubby for our own season's greetings...wake up...open presents deal with his parents a large turkey dinner...and all the chaos that follows...it'll be more pleasant next year, it'll be on our terms...

Kwanza is stupid, Chanukah is trivial, and Christmas and Yuletide are the same thing, plus or minus a thin veneer of Jesus splatted on top.
When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.
My ex-wife(my son's mom) is celebrating the solstice this year, two years ago it was christmas.. Seems she changes religion to suit her Husband(s).
I myself acknowledge most of the holidays, but celebrate christmas as the gifting time.
I shall be sitting here posting and watching the kid play with his gifts! Meal will be a hotpocket or something of that sort.. Maybe i'll have some of the kids cheese pizza as well!!
Beware the ex's.. They ARE out to get you...
Nice guys finish last It isn't just a saying.. It's a fact of life!
Those things that produced your ex......you know, the bitchmakers! Metagion
I will be spending Christmas twice. My biological family will be together for the first time in 12 years. Hope to spend time with 2 of my brothers that I have not talked to in years. We hope to take a day and go into Yellowstone for a day.
Thesecond time will be spend with my godson and his mother. We will celebrate hanukah and Christmas. His mother is 1/2 jewish and the other 1/2 Catholic. My godson's father is 1/2 black so they also celebrate kwanza.
Makes for a lot of parties this month
Pain is Nature's way of saying "At least your still alive!"
i dunno...don't you get like twelve days of gifts with hanukah? That would mean that I would get more than one gift. I would have twelve gifts.
Eight days, Simon...but still, that's a lot of gifts...granted, they're usually small gifts...
to everyone else, thanks a lot for your imput!
