Healing from anyone other than an ordained minister seems to be frowned upon by the Church. As a non-Christian I do not understand how healing a person can be 'bad', although I have spoken to Christians who say that the healing power is coming from Satan if it is not from within the Church. This attitude discourages some Christians from seeking healing or training to heal.
On the flipside many healers now talk about Spirit Guides and Angels, which alienates those Christians who may feel that working with spirits is wrong. I think that healing should be non-denominational. What do you think?

The idea that Satan (in this case the Devil) is healing people to lead them away from Jesus, is just ludicrous. It reflects the nature of Christianity as a closed religion/worldview. In reality, if someone diverting an unknown energy force to cure disease or to mend physical damage was possible, it could only be positive. It would be a wonderful thing and should not be constrained by the personal beliefs of any group but adopted by all societies and cultures.

Religion is a battle over whose invisible friend is better, discouraging practices of other religions is just part of the game. You don't want to be a heretic do you?

If you want to go with exactly what the bible says about it, any christian may heal someone by merit of the fact that he or she is a christian.

Prove that it says that.

I suppose that if religious people are not allowed to seek healing that works, then they die.

Thus the world is filled with less problematic gullable.

I always thought christian healers claimed their powers came from God...blaming Satan would be calling Jesus a satanist, wouldn't it? After all, he healed too, assumedly through powers granted by God...

Angelic healing...I know a few that practices this. My personal, unreligious, extremely biased opinion here is basically people with natural powers, and a strong religious faith, wishing to explain these powers in a way that doesn't conflict with their beliefs.

Umm..... I have a hard time beleiving anyone can heal just using their hands..... though I allow that it could be a possibility..... I just wonder why if it is a reality we do not see more of these people coming forth to battle the Modern Plagues of our time.... including AIDS.....???

One woman on the course I'm taking has warm hands...she believes her powers comes from angels, and that she can talk to them. But this doesn't change the fact that she fixed my shoulder pains just by touching...and I was warm enough afterwards for the guy next to me to feel the heat...that was odd.

See, that right there is an obvious sign of anti-christian sentiment. People are all the time, on this forum, ascribing terrible (and untrue) things to christians and the bible and no one bats an eyelash, but when someone who actually follows the faith (me) tells you something from the Bible that is actually wise or good or not so bad, you demand proof! That's crazy!

Thats proof that people in the bible healed, but I don't see where it says "You can heal, merely by the fact that you are christian."

Christianity is like astrology. You can find anything you want in that big book. If thats what makes you happy, then good for you. I'm sorry, I just prefer to go with my gut.

That is exactly what that says. It doesn't say anything about christianity becuase christianity did not exist when the gospel was written. And for a long time, mostly only Jews practiced it and it was considered a strange, evangelical form of judaism. And if you were looking for proof that being christian actually allows you to heal illness, you're looking for purple sound.

Does this say that they can heal someone just merely by the fact they follow the Christian faith, the Centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant, and the twelve disciples were given the power from God himself, they weren't given the power because they were Christian, because Christianity didn't exist, the Christian faith is based on the whole New Testament, not just the gospels, the Actual term for the faith they followed was Judaism, if you don't believe me, then do some research here, http://www.iclnet.org/pub/resources/...n-history.html You'll find out that earlier records of Christian churches didn't come until long after Jesus' time. Making the disciples judeo-christians, giving them special priveledges. Besides that, they were Jesus' disciples, we follow Jesus spiritually, but they actually FOLLOWED Jesus. You see my point. Go ask a Baptist preacher to heal you and he'll tell you to repent for your sins, and pray to God so that GOD will heal you.

Then if you don't mean what you say, don't say it. You've got Christians turning into heretics now, next thing you know you'll be the false prophet of the new ages.

The usual catholic interpretation of the passages I posted is that any ordained clergy member can heal sickness by force of faith. The usual (evangelical)protestant interpretation of it is that anyone of strong enough faith in God can heal, regardless of title. I'm not just making this shit up.

The catholics also worship statues and pray to the mother mary.
