I know this was loosely acknowledged on some of the threads that are going right now, but I didn't want to interrupt someone's original train of thought with this. Here's the thing:

(assuming a god or God does exist)
Before everything, there was nothing. Obviously, right? It all had to start somewhere. But according to Christian religion, God has no beginning. So when there was nothing, God was the nothingness. Then He supposedly created everything within a matter of six days. And everything was just great, until Adam and Eve screwed up and got kicked out of the garden. Now, if God is, and is in, everyone and everything he created, that means they are all a part of him; the central "beginning." Apparently, according to Christian religion, the snake tempted Eve, who tempted Adam. But God created the snake. The snake seems to be the first representation of evil in the bible.. but it was something that God created. Yet modern people are convinced that God is wholly pure and good. But if He was nothingness, and now He IS everything, isn't He also evil? He is a part of everything He created, good AND bad. So my question is.. is God essentially evil?

okay im new around here but let me say this if you want it from a christians point of veiw god create everything he is not in everything, god is not evil, evil comes from the heart of man which god can only control a sinful mans heart if that man/women comes to god amittes he/she is a sinner and ask god to come into your heart and ask god to control your life which is how god comes into people

In which case, the entire Christian bible is an intertwined contradiction, because that's proving God does not control everything, and is therefore not all-powerful.

butr isnt man created by god, in the image of god etc? if god is able to create something evil, he must have it in him. besides, i agree with the numerous amount of others who has stated that god, if he exists, must be just about the biggest asshole ever. it is said that not a sparrow falls to earth without god knowing. yet he doesnt lift a finger to help those who cannot help themselves.

if you heard about a man who sat idle by and watched a child be molested, raped, tortured, murdered...and did nothing...im talking really small children here, completely helpless creatures. what would you think of that man? given he had the power to intervene, save the child, but he didnt.

thats god for you. yes, i know they say we have free will, and can basically do what we want, but they also claim that god is all-powerful. that must imply that he has the power to stop injustice, but he chooses not to. in my dictionary, that is not the definition of good.

That's EXACTLY my point! We're supposedly in the image of our God. Is that why there are so many people who refuse to take responsibility? God created evil, yet does nothing to fix it, which means He must ultimately condone it. Everything has an opposite. If God is nothing, God must be everything. And if God is the purest, God is also the most evil.. the creator of EVERYTHING.. good and bad.

either that, or hes just too lazy to fix his errors.

in my iopinion, if god does exist, i tend to believe hes more like a spoiled little child with too many toys. he has probably moved on to other, more fascinating things already.

Which means God is not infallible. Which means the Christian bible is wrong. So does God really exist? The errors or contradictions in the bible seem more like the work of someone trying to play a huge joke on humanity, rather than a man inspired by God.

well, if he was flawless, that would mean his creations would be perfect, right? and im sure we all agree humanity is far from perfection.

niot to mention the fact that he had to try several times before he got us right. we all know adam was a multiple divorcee, nothing new there. but if you check the creation story, youll find an odd little contradiction there. i cant get the actual quote, since i dont have a bible, and especially not an english one. but it roughly says that adam and eve were the first people on earth, right? then some sentences further down, it says that their sons went out and married the natives... natives??? where did they come from..?

one theory on that is that djinns were the first to inhabit the garden of eden. but god found them too powerful, so he created humans to take their place. talk about trial and error, eh?

well...thatz a good question. but i believe god just enjoys see us all run around in our little meaningless lives in the chaotic world around us. it makes him/her/it feel special. my mom use to tell me that god wuz the greatest thing on earth. if that wuz so then how come he/she/it didn't beep out people that said GOD DAMNITT!!!! see no beep out, no blink out. becuz god is a fucking asshole. obviously, he/she/it enjoys it too. my dad believes Satan and God were siblings in some romanian god era. i don't know wut u call that belief. so yup god is evil.

first off didnt we already adress the fact that gave humans free-will to what they want so if you curse his name he doesnt bleep it out we have the choice to do what is wrong and what is right

he does not enjoy it he love you and everyone you cant blame god for letting us make our own choices and hurting people because we did it wrong


and second god and statan are no way near brothers and in reality statan is nothing compared to god

...but do you think he is good or evil? and either way, how do you justify your answer?

as for god and satan being brothers, prove shes wrong. with a statement like that, you surely must have some heavy evidence to back it up, right? or are you just another one of those over-confident bible-thumpers, unable to see any other sides than your own?

i know this to be true not just becaues of what the bible says or becaues of what other people have told me i know him to be true becaues of my life
am human to i can understand everyone point of veiw and opions but that dosent mean i have to except them

no, of course you dont have to accept our views. after all we are not preaching here, just discussing. and for the sake of discussion, do you think you could explain how you justify your views? i mean, how can you look at a god that preaches fire and brimstone for everyone that doesnt blindly worship him as good?

in my opinion, the statement ' you shall not have any other gods than me' alone signifies great insecurity and fear of competition. not to mention our other arguments in this thread. how can you call a god like that pure and loving?

Yes, and evil is evil. But where did it all come from? It all, supposedly, started with God. God is everything, God is nothing, God is good and God is evil. He wouldn't allow evil if He didn't find something in it that pleased Him. Even if He gets pleasure from seeing His followers conquer evil, He's still, to an extent, getting pleasure from evil. God IS everything. And God is evil.

That there were no good OR evil, if everything's value was based on the amount of action vs. inaction in it. In eastern terms, yin vs. yang.

not that im too experienced in the yin/yang theory...but id definately put god in the 'inactive' booth.

That's all part of good and evil.. those are the two standard values that almost everything else you can imagine is based upon. Besides.. that point is completely unfounded. If there is no evil, there is no good, and vice versa. It proves nothing.

It wasn't MEANT to prove anything. I did say "Let's assume for a moment that...." I didn't say that assuming that would prove anything. Why does everyone think I'm actually arguing a POINT. I'm only playing (fuckign pun) devil's advocate.

then i would suggest you start making points...otherwise you make a really poor advocate...
