Ok Dyshade you've lost me(which isn't very hard). I don't believe in twisting scripture for my needs. I feel the rest of the world Christian and non does that for me. I know for a fact there are some(all be it very few)Christians who don't. I could twist it and drive everyone nuts or try to convert others. But I hate that very idea.

It doesn't matter whether you do or you don't, what matters is do you agree with the quote, its in the bible so it must be right?

Horned--I believe in the Bible but I know/believe that the Bible was written by mortal men. Plain and simple. Let me give you an example of what/how I believe the Bible.....true stroy. I was at a place called the Refuge about 7-8 years ago. This was a non-denom. chruch. A place where street kids and the otehrs labeled as freaks, worthless could come to church and no one would say anything cause we all looked at way. The pastor have waist length hair and wore bondage leather. His wife a pink and blue mohawk with tattoos and piercings. You get the picture. Well the main reason we all went was the "normal" "mainstream" church didn't want us. We were all disillusioned and disgusted with the mainstream church. One day Steve(pastor)was looking at us and he knew we weren't really their. We were too busy with our stupid dramas. So he went over a picked up his dogeared, battered, beaten etc. Bilbe which he was always reading. He walked back to the center of the room stood infront of us and and through his Bible on the floor. I don't mean tossed I mean almost slammed it into the ground. Then he walked over and stood on it. By then we were horrifed/shocked/ and completely riveted on his action. He then calmly while still standing on his Bible said. It isn't the Bible that's holy. The publisher isn't God. The paper wasn't sacred. The words were just print. The Bible was just like another other book. It was the faith in the words that was holy. It didn't matter on the translation, texted, Cathoilc Protestant. None of it matter. How others twisted it didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was what WE believed the words meant. Christians follow God, we believe in God, we put faith in God. NOT His followers, His prophets, His popes, His leaders. When you followed a leader who is mortal, when isn't infaliable. You will be let down, you will find loop holes.
I have faith in Gods word. Not the words of God translated through the eyes of men. Yes I read the Bible, but I know what it has gotten fucked upover the thosands of years. No doubt. Don't lump all Christian together by your ignorance.

You say that this book is just the word of god as translated by men, so how do you have faith in gods word. If the bible isn't factual then what is your faith based on. You might believe that your version of christianity is true but how do you know, what you think is wrong might be right.
If you accept that the bible has been mistranslated then how do you know that the bible is nothing more than a work of fiction or a book created to promote a political religion. There is a great deal of evidence to support the view that the romans created christianity to control the masses they had subjugated and enslaved and here you are two thousand years on still taking the word of oppressors as the word of god.I don't doubt the good intentions you have, but good intentions do not make a faith. If there were a God how do you know that your, as you say, fucked up book, isn't an abomination in its eyes.

nothing is certain in life you just do the best you can with the information you get. I chose to follow God and I have to in a lot of instances go by faith alone. In truth no one knows what God wants and I'm sure in some cases God isn't pleased with the liberties taken with the translation of His word. But the Bible is all we have left of His written word on this earth. When reading it I constantly have to rely on my faith in the God Himself to help me resolve and understand the meaning. This sounds so forigen trying to put into words what I do concerning the Bible. But in a nutshell it is FAITH. I can't come up with any better word(s) then that.

But the bible isn't the word of god, it is a book written by men, god didn't write the bible, men did and claimed it to be his word. Men who sought power over others, men who subjegated women, waged war , murdered, plundered, men who grew wealthy while others suffered. The bible is full of apparently noble words but the men who wrote, altered and controlled those words were and still are corrupt, thats why your preacher could throw the bible on the floor and god didn't give him a sign of displeasure because it is not gods word.If there were a point worth taking from your preachers actions it is that you have to throw away words and lies when you seek god and look in your own heart for the answer. When you trust the bible or even when you call yourself christian and join with churches it is not god that you put your faith in but men. You put your faith in them, that they are not liars, false prophets or devils. If there is evil in this world where would it be, would it be in the hands of those christians who murdered nonbelievers in the name of the faith you now profess. Would that evil be in the words of a book that appears to speak truth when its deceits are the death of the soul.Would it hide in the hands of priests who pervert the divine power of sexuality into something that creates fear, guilt and evil.
I admire your faith blind or not, but have you placed your faith in god or a devil playing at being god.
