why do they happen and how is it that people get an exorcisim? wether you were to get an exorcism from god or satan..... because i'm just curious about it is all. does it all have to do with one having the lack of not beleving in a certian god or what? i know they don't happen to a person without there being a reason for it.... a person would get an exorcisim because they've must have done something in order to get it some how. i know that people can perform an exorcism on a person by a priest in order to have it and the such and the other reason would be is to mess around with an quija board......

then if they are having an exorcisim by a certian god... does that mean they are marked by them?

I don't think you know what an exorcism is. Exorcism removes demons or other harmful spiritual beings from persons or places they are believed to have possessed (assuming you believe in that madness).

People who take others to be exorcised before taking logical medical courses to solve problems scare me. Case in point.

wow, it depends on who you ask...and funny enough i just read a slightly interesting, great for history, but way too fluffy good versus evil book on exorcisms by the world renowned "trad witch" Sybil Leek, it did have some wonderful stories however.

most of the skeptics that have witnessed cases of "exorcism" have theorized that the person themself develop the symptoms, sort of like stigmata...the person believes they are deserving of being possessed, so they get possed...the usual mind over matter arguement.

usually priests do perforom exorcisms, but then again there are so many denominations, it would seem the roman catholics however are the most...dramatic in their pracitce(the exorcisms portrayed in television and movies)...there are only three official documented roman catholic exorcisms that the church will claim as legitimate in this century, there are numerous other christ based religions that do exorcisms, some number in the thousands, and some congregations seem to exorcise everyone for anything, from bad habits to foul language? all because of the evil spirits, naturally.

this is one place i will give the roman catholic church credit for their approach, only after all scientific, mental and any and all other avenues of the less than supernatural and extremely expensive they may be explorations have been done, they then go through an extensive process of interviewing, document and observing the...subject, before finally giving approval for an exorcism...

but exorcisms aren't necessarily restricted to the christian clergy, there are numerous witches, wiccans and i'm sure other sorts of magickal people who've had their fair share of exorcisms, but often times they refer to it as a banishing.

i don't know why people get possessed, i do know numerous people who do practice medium type of spiritualism where they actually bring the spirit into their being and let the entity work through their body...i guess it could be kind of a willing possession?

but they exorcise themselves.

I want to see this new movie The Exocrsim of Emily Rose. It looks very evil and dark and I want to find out how and why she got possesed.

Not having protection from God is can open up people possesion.
Summoning spirits and then not protecting yourself and banishing them.. can also open someoone up to possesion...

this is actually one i think will be interesting and different, rather than focusing so much on the possession, it's more about the district attorney invetstigating the death of the title character by a priest during her exorcism...it'll be fascinating watching a show depicting the darker aspect to religious exorcisms and bring to light a very common and scary reality to the art and practice of the rite.

Okay I guess this is kind of unrelated, but I just watched the movie. After watching I came to a single conclusion: The devil/demons do NOT posses anyone. I would assume you believe the devil isn't stupid. So, why would he/she/me decide to posses someone if the ONLY final result would be to strengthen other peoples faith? Its fiscally unsound

How does it lead to strengthening other people’s faith? It scares people. Scarring people causes people to seek solace. Usually its mommy or the church of their denomination.

911 --> people go to church
Y2K --> people go to church

Hurricane Katrina --> people shoot at rescuers... others go to church.


To tell you the truth, if possesion occurs, its more likely that it's God (or his minions) doing the possesion rather than the devil

who knows why they possess people, but it is usually those who are most religious, i imagine to attempt and shake their faith in god...i don't think his intention was to "turn people to god" but the fact she died and the priest went to trial, spreading the possibility that heaven, hell and their minions are an actuallity was just an opportunity the priest had used for his own agenda...

why else would belial be trying to keep "the truth" from being discussed using terrorist tactics on the defense lawyer, priest and the psychologist(resulting in his death) that could have lended some credibility to the claim of possession?

those prosecuting the priest had no problems.

once belial was exposed, and the "good guys" were able to achieve more by his possession of the girl than he did, he had lost...

i'm guessing people would never actually know. unless if by some how it happens to them on posession. even if the person has been through possession. i don't think that most people would even remember that they were possessed while they were being possessed. so how is it that these people can bring themselves up to tell us about it? cause some people will remember and some people won't. so you are saying that it only happens to people that are seriuosly religious. if you are not religious you wouldn't get possessed? i don't know about that. i believe that anyone can be possessed rather easily. because i remember that the priest would go on and say that our body is nothing but a palace. our body's are nothing but our own cities. which they are right about. then they also try and say which i don't believe either. is that if you are the type of person that is negative that would attract demons to possess you. from them saying that it's having them tell you to behave or some stupid shit like that... so you wouldn't get possessed and that you would have to believe in god. from what i've been watching on television. but to tell you the truth i really don't know.. i don't think anyone could ever possibly know. just feel lucly and thankfull that you haven't gone through possession. i am seriously glad for that on myself.

i'm not devoutly religious enough to be possessed, and it seems a borderline worship of demon kind doesn't seem to increase the risk either, so i wonder if it's the challenge of breaking those who have faith in the above?

it neither supports or disuades an arguement for or against the possiblity of "demonic" intelligence influencing the behavior of humans either internally or externally, and in no way deals with "the exorcism of emily rose" which raised some interesting points on the exact powers and influences they can develop over non believers versus believers.

the theory is that Possesion resides on free will, the unfortunate thing is that it doesn't have to be concious will to be possessed but it requires concious will to be released from it.
If they can get you to permit them entry into your Self on any level they can do what ever they want. Much like letting someone in your house when your going away, they can trash it or clean it ordestroy everything, rape it rob it etc...
Religious people are more susceptible to it for various reasons.

A friend of mine was exorcised without being posessed. My ex speculated it probably opened doorways to her rathar than exorcised her and that was the reasoning for my friend's schidzophrenic mind. I'm glad I don't hang around that crowd anymore.

Well, my friend was diagnosed with almost every thing at psychiatrist could think of. She was on tons of medications. I'm not too sure if the meds started before or after. The exorcism wasn't even consulted by the church.
I'm sure their are many ways of seing into other universes. The question is, are you sure you want? That's why I never continued with OBE or any of that stuff. Because it would probably be dificult to distinct one reality from another and then people would label you "insane". Besides, the physical one is hard enough, why open up another reality?

that's a very good question...i've been pondering a possible connection between insanity and genius...i wonder at what point of enlightenment the human mind becomes unable to seperate realities?

Hallucinating some of your senses doesn't necessarily merit genius, IMO. But, I'm sure there is relevance to the types of hallucinations.
