VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - In another in a series of notable pronouncements, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson says God told him storms and possibly a tsunami will hit America's coastline this year.
Robertson has made the predictions at least four times in the past two weeks on his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded.
Robertson said the revelations about this year's weather came to him during his annual personal prayer retreat in January

"If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms," Robertson said May 8. On Wednesday, he added, "There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest."

Robertson has come under intense criticism in recent months for suggesting that American agents should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip

but until he starts predicting major volcanic eruptions...then i may have a few concerns, but the weather association already predicted several major storms striking the eastern seaboard...i guess god's a little slow on the uptake?

See, you're falling right into the trap. God conjures a few storm systems in the Atlantic, distracts everyone's attention, and then, BAM, a big old tsunami sneaks up on the West while everyone is looking the other way. Tricky stuff.

They've been saying things like this since who knows when, most likely since the Book of Revelation was written or before. I don't think it helps anyone. I know it didn't help me as a child; being exposed to such things religiously lead to nightmares, fears, etc., thus leading me to question my faith and everything surrounding it, so I suppose it turned out for the best, because I have grown and decided that that sort of organized religion and terrorism is not for me, and that there are other ways of thinking about spirituality. So thanks, Pat Robertson, et. al.

Here is my thing: The pacific ocean has more tectonic activity(most in the form of volcanic formations) than any other region in the world save iceland, gee I wonder if there would just so happen to be the possiblity of massive fucking tsunamis... oh wait there was, on Dec. 26th 2004, silly me I forgot. Lets see what else is there, oh yes the bad ass storms hitting the east coast. Funny I thought the east coast was known for those bad ass storms, also called hurricanes, and the devistation they cause. Seems Mr. Robertson and his little prayer line to God are a bit slow on the news, don't you think?
