I tend to ride that thin grey line.. the one between all of those light and dark masters.. It is my domain, and i like it here

O.k. Here's my theory:

...if you have an interest, fascination, anything like that it will sit there until stimulated...kind of an awakening. So the more it awakens, the more you seek, the more you seek, the more you find...and once you start seeking, you start learning...and there is nothing I enjoy more than learning...

I think that the darkest of the Dark is that without a name or a face or even a definite identity: The System of Deceit. It is in the false consciousness of every consumer whore. It is on the lips of all that ever lie. It is in the thoughts of every subtle word. When you are being subtle or mincing words or other euphamisms for the act, you are not only maintaining this system of deceit, you are playing a game with those you are speaking to and you are pretty much lying.

Without Darkness there can be no light.

Every point needs a counterpoint to exist, else it becomes irrelevant.

That has to dio with perception too, right? If there was no darkness, we couldn't recognice the light, because we would have nothing to compare it too...

Yep, and if you've nothing to compare it to it becomes irrelevant and you place no value on it.
That's also why spoiling kids is a bad thing, if someone gives a kid a toy it doesn't have the same value in his eyes as one he saved all year for

actually I just wanted spooky stories, what people feel about the Dark Mother...there are dark elves and other creatures that kind of send a chill down your spine...that type of dark forces...what some people call evil...:p

I don't really like the terms "Dark and Light" - except in that they are complamentory opposites. They tend to represent "unorthodoxy" - things seen to be against the current "Way". Set, my prime example and most honoured God, represents change, war, passion, and sorcery where his brother Osiris - the more "highly looked upon" in Egypt most of the time, and especially later on - is God of the underworld (naturally stationary and unevolving), stagnation, and tradition. THese were the things that were "good" in the Time, but not necessarily at all times.

Oh yeah, and using my favourite pantheon, Tezcatl-Ipoca is my favourite "Dark" God. The Nemesis and antethesis of Quetzalcoatl, he stands for Cold and the North, for the Earth and material things (and all that that entails ), and, naturally, as all "dark" Gods seem to be - of sorcery. I like him, and especially with regards to the Fact of Truth (ie. Chaosism), in that his name means "Smoking mirror" - and thus I take him to stand for all the layers and categorisations and "creations" from Chaos that make up percieved human existance. Nice.

Perhaps it's so thaey can fit more symbols on?! I think that by looking at the front of the God it is like putting youirself at their level - from the side is more respectful. I don't know... although the Greeks/Romans had frontal statues I believe, so...

Also, in case you wondered - his left foot has been replaced by a mirror made of Obsidian, because it was bitten off by the "World Crocodile" when he and Quetzalcoatl created the world.

I read a book once, where one of the main characters got possessed by Tezcatlipoca...cheezy, I know...but I learned a lot about their rituals that way...

Cool... possessions, if they weren't so easy/low, would be Tezcatlipoca's thing as God of "mischief" as well I suppose... Actually he seems to be one of the few "Dark Gods" who isn't the primary god of war (Huitzilopoctli is), strange that.

I don't know too much about actuall mesoamerican culture (thus rituals) though - I think it's pretty hazy, and the Spanish reports are naturally a little biased... I'd love to learn Nahuatl but it's so dissimilar to English - and it;s been basicaly lost and corrupted now anyway.. shame..

Darkness dwells inherent within every soul if darkness were to be defined as that which is found by the majority to be profane...... which is usually the case.... Man is a creature of the day even though we can now move around fairly easily in the darkness... before electricity our fear of the dark was almost a racial instinct...... from this fear were born many differing myths and legends...... the first tales of vampirism were centered around mythic creatures which carried the Sumerian name of Akhkharu...... they were disembodied spirits of great malevolence which would descend upon a man, woman, or child and pierce them in a thousand spots at once and drain the victim of all thier blood....... this supposedly made thier spirits flesh for a time.... sometimes the victim would rise up as a ghoul and haunt necropolisis..... these ancient spirits also suffered from the same discomforts as its modern cousin..... sunlight would destroy the spirit.....
The tears of a God would burn them..... blessed water from which ever Diety one believed in..... the Sumerians had many....

We conjure these images from the dark pits of our souls....
Our imagination though giving us the greatest succor is in the end our greatest enemy..........

The main Sumerian Gods are our very planets and the Sun they orbit..... what would you like to know???
The creation epic and small snippets of Mythology are mostly all that are left.... besides thier Gods they had almost 50 various demons/angels.... such as the one that the Movie "The Excorcist " mentions..... Pazuzu... this was the bringer of plagues.... he was the demon of locusts and disease.... more if you would like....
the Sumerian Mythos is based upon all of these Demons and Sorcerers who could summon them from beyond and control them.... almost all legend is derived from the Sumerians in one way or another..... Dragons, demons, wizardry, prophecy, creation epics.... etc......
