What is your favorite divination method...there are so many...

I'm kind of classic, I prefer cards and tea leaves...

I like cards and symbloism. I have always been very perceptive, and I look for symbols, omens and portents everywhere I go.

I stopped using cards.... though I was told that most usually what I divined was true.... this is more so my perceptive nature at work rather than the cards.... sometimes the cards would say one thing and I would tell yet another..... the mind needs no foci to do what it will.... cards, crystal balls, runes and what not are all foci that allow a person to concentrate.... yet when concentrating so hard upon an object the person under scrutiny can sometimes be lost....

I agree...I tend to use them for my own purposes...I am not fond of reading for people...I will "play" palmistry, but people tend to take cards as being written in stone...

Yes they do.... not a lot of people realize that they are tools... the cards that is... though some people are tools also.... and tools can be manipulated a variety of ways....

I like that statement, but I think manipulation is a bit harsh...I prefer suggestion...

Manipulation..... is what it is... suggestion is usually what comes from the subject.... harsh it may be.... yet the reality of it all is harsher..... hehe.....

Manipulation sounds negative to me...I guess I just associate it with cruel actions...

hehe.... now what is wrong with a cruel act or two.... well besides the whole immorality thing.... we are all manipulated from birth... all indoctrinated to a certain lifestyle... ummm... ok... now I am straying way off topic here.... lets say when you are reading palms, cards, runes, or anything of the sort... the person doing the reading will actively manipulate the subject through vocal suggestion as well as visual through whichever aid is chosen.... the participant will begin to see parts of thier lives within what it is you tell them.... they associate it no matter how loose the ties...
this is why most readings begin with past association rather than jumping to the future..... from those past associations an intelligent reader can manipulate a future reading....

That is what makes it become a skill rather than a talent...It's easy to read cards(or any device), but to put it all together is the key(as you said)...it is easy for people who have a need and belief to shape the meaning to fit their life...however I have had readings that were spookingly( )acurate...but it's rare that I ever experience that...I doubt many fortune tellers...

I've been taught that you should never read someone you know...because your own perceptions and feelings will come in the way of the reading...

I have a tarot deck, but I haven't used it much lately...it is nice if you need to clear your thoughts though...as Dyshade said, a foci...

I like the idea that the Arcana are manipulating the deck whilst you shuffle. I like the idea that the mighty spirits of the Arcana (second only to those of the Zodiac) are completely insubstantial and formless and so are everpresent and all-pervasive. They can manipulate the world in minor ways (influence chance) but the sum of their tiny actions become enormous. Anyhow, they also like to show us little hints of what they are doing, what they are working toward. Hence, a complex system of archetypal symbolism may be divined. (Why do the Arcana like to do this? Why did God create Man?)
The Zodiac are the most essential and powerful spirits because they influence a person's enitre fate, fortune and future right from the get-go. Now, if the only did this to one person, it wouldn't make a lick of a difference, but because everyone's life is determined by the Zodiac, their impact is most obviosuly enormous. However, the Zodiac do not influence us in the same manner as the Arcana. The Arcana's effects are constant but small, while the Zodiac influence us only once (even if it is an all-encompassing effect).
And I know anyone would have trouble with the idea that one set of doo-daw spirits affect everything and that another just toy with us. Think of it this way: After the Zodiac makes their plan for a particular individual, they pass those plans on to the Arcana to carry out. The Arcana determine what'll happen to us, the Zodiac determine our nature and the way in which we'll react to the Arcana's effects.
And I know anyone would have trouble with the idea that we aren't in control of anything. Well, we are in control of one thing: Our nature. Even though the Zodiac determine our original nature, but it's ours forever after. We can't change what'll happen to us, we can change us, though. and we can change what we'll do about it.
One has to surrender a certain amount of onesef before reality surrenders any of itself to one.

umm...that's a good point...symbols play a large part to divining also...

A friend of mine just bought runestones...they could be fun to try out...

I would highly recommend those...read anything by Ralph Blumb...he presents them in a very helpful and educational way...

Jung was the master, in my opinion, or read Jung and the Tarot by... oh I forget, look around...

I used to be really into divination. I made my own rune stones, rune cards, bought tarot cards, bought and made pendulums etc etc. That kinda faded away, I would love to be able to get back into it...but I find it too difficult, Mediumship is more for me. I still experiment with divination though...just not as much as before. My favourite method is probably the Runes.

If I use anything it's usually crystals but I find that all foci do is focus your thoughts, which you can learn to do anyway, and sort of confirm the answer you already have.
If you focus and just ask the question you'll usually come up with a jumble of answers, with a lot of practice you can filter out the right answer without foci.

You will of course be wrong a lot but over time your confidence and accuracy will grow.

You are the focus for the divination, these outside objects are just foci for your confidence.
