What I would like to talk about in this post is "Believing in the Unbelievalbe" as the title shows and I wish tht everyone will participate in this thread if they have any thing to say.
In my country almost all people do believe in such things and it's hard to argue with them. For me, I also do believe in those things in my heart for they are part of my religion, but my mind and logic can't believe in them because I've never seen them in reality. So, the problem is that I don't know if I believe in them or I don't.

Well I'll talk about those beliefs and I wish you will talk about similar beliefs or lets say phenomena in your culture. In our country, we believe in the existance of an equal creation to human that is Jinnee. Jinnees are created of fire while humans are created of mud. They cann't be seen, but they are able to appear in human form and they can enter the human body and talk using his voice. To cure this poor person who have the Jinnee in his body, a religious man how will puff at him as he is reading holy veses. This is one unbelievalbe thing that I believe in though I have never seen. Every body in my country is confirming the fact of Jinnees' existance by many stories. I don't believe most of them. But there is one fact for sure, one of my closest friends claims that he have experienced such things. He claims that he had a Jinnee in his body and he was cured by one religious man.
I have an experience of another kind which I will talk about if you are intrested. I wish I will get a sientific explanation for it.

i myself do not really believe in any religion, but i do not dismiss the principles behind it; however, i think that based solely upon the undisputed fact that there exists so many religions and beliefs, and nearly all of them have "evidence" based upon similiar things you describe......for example, christianity and their exorcisms, or the mere fact that some people claim to see that light at the end of tunnel during near death experiences, or people who claim to be able to speak in tongues, etc etc etc.....i think that these things can be explained solely by the rationale of consciousness, simply put, what you believe is what you see....

i think overall, no religion has it right, and we will never have it right, sure someone may have had a good clue, but like anything over periods of time, it gets lost, changed, etc....which is why one can explain why despite so many diverse religions and beliefs, all seem to entail a pretty similar message....

i'm beginning to believe that if it exists in your heart it exists somewhere. you have made it real with your belief.

i haven't always thought this way and have only concluded this recently - in the last few weeks when i questioned something within myself that i think i 'know' but i have no proof. that's what faith is about. you can't prove it, but you feel it.

i've seen that picture before and last time i saw it i couldn't get past the fact that i saw it as a charcoal drawing and nothing else. but now i see that it could be a bad photo.

religion doesn't sit right with me. they seem far too considered and set to be relevant to every person under it's wing. sure you may agree with certain parts of some religion, but is it neccassary to be of that religion? can't you have morals and beliefs without labelling and alligning yourself to a group?

What I want to discuss is not the existence of God. I want to know if there is any phenomena science hasn't explained. I want to know more about strange things people believe in. I want to know if anybody has ever seen any supernatural thing.

In my country nearly all people believe in strange things like:

*The existance of Jinnees which I myself do not deny, but I don't believe the stories everybody tell.

*The evil eye, which is claimed to come upon rich,intelligent or successful people. For example, win you win a prize then you are subject to this evileye and you shall sell this car before you have an accident in it.

*persons who have Jinnees in their bodies will be,in some cases, hit till this evil Jinnee get out.

* Some people have stonger evileye than other people have. When those people see some thing they like very much they might cast ,unconsciously, an evileye at that thing which will broke down and if the eye is strong it might split that thing. some people have the ability to to cast evileye consciously.

Now, do you think those things are real and true.

nope......i think they might just be mere coincidence.....

i have never seen anything supernatural......the farthest strange phenomena i can remotely believe in is extraterestrial life

i don't think there are any such believes in our country right now. i know latvians had their own religion, but if there were any believes, then they were killed when crusaders came here long ago. i could try digging some information on local ancient culture though. now, however, we are like typical european country where most widespread religion is christianity. i have never encountered anything unnatural myself, and neither did i heard anything from anybody i know.

generally i view belief in unbelievable as belief in something unexplained. if we do not understand something that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but it also doesn't mean it is exactly as we portray it in our beliefs. like in many cultures a thunderstorm was like considered to be sent by gods as punishment, however, now we know of electricity and that lightning is a natural phenomenon caused by some reactions, though humans still do not fully understand how it exactly happens.

hmm... thanks for direction... though i don't remember myself visiting otherkin forum that much, so it is possible i've seen it somewhere else. anyway, i think it's time for me to look more in that forum. i wonder why i still haven't done it...

I haven't ever seen any pheomenon in my life though many people in my country claim to have seen.
But there is another unbelievable thing I witness myself. Some religious men claim that they are able to interpret dreams. In a place of worship a religious man sat rounded of people who were telling him their dreams and then this religios man interpret that dream amazingly. For example, one man told him about his dream and then the Sheikh (religious man) told the man that her sister is to be married. The man then confirmed that. How could the shiekh know that the questioner's sister is to be married?
The shiekh describes the questioner amazingly, he ,for example, say that the man have a bmw or that he listens to a certain arist.

Considering sorcery i cannot tell much, because i never had any experience with it or have been a witness to it. But again, though we may not have an scientific explanation to it now, does not mean there is no explanation. It may be something humanity yet has to understand.

That story about Sheikh is interesting. I heard more then once about such abilities, but never have been a witness to it myself. It looks like unnatural things bypass me

There may be phenomona that at this moment cannot be explained away easily...... go back 200 years and attempt to explain an internal combustion engine to a native of that time... i gaurantee you would be burning at a stake after you explained yourself..... probably pretty quick....
yet now it is knowledge that is taken for granted... even though i can bet you that there are only a few members now who could explain exactly how it works......
the point being knowledge that is esotoric is that way for one reason.... it is at present unexplainable...... science is fact.... it works that way.... nothing is random in our Universe and yet also nothing is predestined.....
sooner or later if we survive the enemy we have created(ourselves) we will probably have an explanation for almost everything we are asking now.... but we will probably have twice as many questions.... hehe....
