What I'm getting at is that people are raised to believe in this certain type of thing, say the Christian God or Catholic God or whatever the hell... and they believe in it.

So what if I decided to raise my children believing in some make believe deity that is named Bum? Would they actually believe in it until they hit the age where they quickly realized they were the only people who even knew of it?

yes! my dad raised me believing in the spirit world...five years of ccd and a catholic communion still didn't change my mind, just mixed me up something awful...it'll be up to them once they get to an age of reason...

Doesn't that depend on how much information is given on the bum? I mean, look at whatever religion there is out there. They all have an explanation for everything. If u'd have 'The BOB' (Book Of Bum ) at least there would be some guidance as how to follow him...

Now those are some of the most annoying people I have ever had the doubious honor of knowing personally and dealing with for an extended period of time. Go figure that most members of Mense are members of the SubGenius. After a night of speaking with one I have a mirgraine that makes me want to strangle and kill the first moving being. It takes a few weeks to recover before I can face yet another night of the SubGenius and Bob at work.

While you bring up a good point, if you brain wash them like the little christian children of the world are today, there is a chance that they will rebel. Take me as an example. My parents raised my in a christian home, forced me to church, and responded to all my intelligent questions responded, "Cause the bible said so"

Well in my teenage years i have come to accept the religion of Wicca as my truth.

Well it may just be may but i'm damn tired of that answer. To this day all the answers i get from christians are always related back to the bible. They can't come up with any support aside from this book. That seems a little suspitious to me but, oh well.
