| About all religions (couldnt come up with a catchy subject.) -
08-03-01
I have been trying to study different religions since a looong time and noticed that if you take away the prophets and the different names used for God then all religions are the same.
That really means a lot to me considering that I believe in God and that I believe that all religions were sent by God and since the days of the first human being the same power has been guiding people.
So all these religious wars are bull shit. If they stop focusing on small things such as names and start looking at the big picture which says that you will not harm anyone and do good then everything will be over.
Plus I would love it if people let God do the judging and not damn people cuz they were told by some priest that "people of other religions go to hell"... like I've been told by VARIOUS people of different religions how I am damned cuz I believe what I believe..

No religious wars were about religion, granted, the soldiers thought that but they were really about land and power, people will fight for their beliefs but noone starts a war for them.

I disagree.
What about the protestant catholic wars or the chruch inspired armada attack on England?
Both were motivated by religion.
What about the ethnic cleansing between shi-ites and sunnites in the middle east?
I think that it's untrue that no war is motivate by religion.
Neon "I've oft been told by learned friars
That wishing and the crime were one
And heaven punishes desires
As much as if the deed were done.
If wishing damns us, you and I
Are damned to all our hearts content.
Come then we may at least enjoy
Some pleasure for our punishment..."

The crusades.. the ethnic cleansing of those russian people.. etc..
The weirdest thing.. like beyond understanding is that all those religions main and basic teaching is that you shall not kill and you shall do good.
Take Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Each book has like the same words but they continue to kill..

such focus on wars we have here... I don't really care, nor is that the point... I think...
now as for the whole thing about all religions being the same, I don't think that's very well based... one example, Christianity Heaven/Hell... jewdism heaven/no hell... Hindu no heaven/no hell (but then again, I don't think that nirvana would be considered heaven, it's an enlightened state for all you about to comment on that)
Second in hindu you are reincarnated, where as in most western religions, you die you're out...
Third In many religions there isn't even a god, and in some there are many... I just wanted to speak my mind on this, I suppose this sounds slightly beligerant, but hey... it's just my opinion From up to down, all around... you don't know where it's from or who it's for... but it's there and you know that it's not gonna' leave... The Darkness keeps bringing you back for more...

There`s a theroy out that Jesus learnt at the hands of a eastern master but they say the same thing about L Ron Hubbard and Crowley too. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

religions, they are just concepts of a certain someone on how people should live their lives. to keep people on the right track, they throw in reprocusions like hell. for instance, look at Anton LeVay. before satanism, he came up w/ catism. ha! everything else is undoubtedly the same. satanism is one of the newer religion/philosophies so the history is more accessible. but as far as im concerned, christianity/catholicism/ect... were meant for a simpler mind in a simpler time. Flock of sheep out on display
Saw your lives burned up around you
I can take it all away"

Well the reason all the religions seem the same is because Paganism was the very first religion. There was a God and a Goddess (The Lord and The Lady). The God was made completely of nature. He had the horns of a deer, the hooves of another animal, the chest of a human, etc. Well when Christianity came into play, Christians wanted EVERYBODY to be Christian, so they made the God evil and called him "Satan" and that's how the image of Satan with the horns and hooves came to be. Then they said "Fuck the goddess.." and they brought this one single God in, and they gave out these li'l things called sins to scare everyone and said if ppl did bad things that God would punish them. Therefore, everything was not sent by God, because God has not been around as long as the Earth has. Christians also STOLE the Pagan Ways and used them as their own, and they banished magick and called it evil. Christians also broke their own law "Thou shalt not kill" by killing 9 million people who were accused of being Witches in Salem, Mass. More than half of those 9 million people were Christians and they were tortured and murdered. Also, Christians cannot except homosexuals because God doesn't love homosexuals and they are all going to hell...yet God loves everybody. I do not and will not ever follow in God's sick twisted hipocritical ways. I am a Wiccan, I don't worship the Devil and I love my religion dearly. I could go on all day about the negativities of Christianity, but I wont. ~GothFireFaerie~

Pagan- I do not understand why everyone gets this word confused... this word is a Catholic and Christian term denoting ALL
RELIGIONS THAT ARE NOT CHRISTIAN..... so if you say you are Pagan please explain... cuz you could be a bhuddist.... The beginnings of all modern religions have thier roots in Shamanism..
tribal medecine men and women... slowly this evolved into worshipping Gods who denoted some part of Nature... Good and Evil are not a by-product of Christianity... they were around as ideals long before its advent... they just made very good use of the concept..
Oh and Gothfairyfire... 9 million people were killed as witches in instances throughout Europe...
Only about 19 people were killed in Salem Ma. as witches... also if you worship the devil you are a christian too... as the devil is a christian concept.... you should derive evidence that is correct before making posts full of unwarranted and wrongful facts... Dyshade..word "pagan" has got very many different meanings..
1.Pagans are Wiccans and other Neopagans
2.Pagans are ancient polytheists
3.Pagans are non-Abramics
4.Pagans are Aboriginals
and so on
I usually use word "pagan" and "paganism" in a general meaning- for describing a religion which is based on the worship of nature. Don't get mad when somebody dosen't explain what they mean with that word...some even don't know that there are so many meanings...reader must often look at the context in which the word is used..i also didn't know all meanings of that word, but I learned

And..i don't believe that all religions are basically the same..in some religions there is a god, in some there are about five hundred gods, in some religions you need god for immortality in some religions you don't...so..even if "you take away the prophets and the different names used for God "...there are too many differences between religions...for example..how can you say that christianity and bhuddism are the same when you take away the prophets?

Hey D-C did I not say that the word Pagan denotes all religions or peoples not Christian????
Which means everything that you just wrote in a broad term...
I do not get mad... I get annoyed...
Do you even understand what denotes means...
Pagan DENOTES all religions or peoples not CHRISTIAN... meaning
Wiccans, neopagans,(Quaint word that one there... "new pagans" I suppose??) ancient polythiests, non-abramics, and aboriginals are all PAGANS... do you see my meaning.... I meant what you explained... yet you said i did not??
A Taoist is a Pagan, as are any other religions not based upon Christianity... though even this rule can be broken,,, as Mormons are considered Pagans by the Roman Catholic Church....
So Yes D-C
I Know That The word PAGAN has many meanings... that is exactly what I said in my other post...
Instead of pagan though explain which God you have faith in...

RELIGIONS THAT ARE NOT CHRISTIAN..... "
So I just had to say something because you're so wrong again...I just ask..can you read?..I said that one of the meanings is non-Abramics...Christians are also non-Abramics (if you knew that)..
Third..
Mhmm..you said it..Pagan denotes all religions or people not christian and yet you said that non-abramics are also pagans..you know..christians are also non-abramics...did you get it or do i have to explain it again to you???

yeah i got that about my senior year in college when i finally got around to studying asian religions. I thnk it's pretty cool and also pretty sad at the same time that the world over people can have the same basic rules given to them by people with different names and not get the point....
