It's fancy. It vibrates. Yano, like what you use to get off, but for your teeth.

| Your toothbrush? -

*sigh* I've recently been sent a PM by a dear friend trying to convince me to buy a certain toothbrush that supposedly cleans my teeth with sonic vibrations.
Surely, such a devise could render all my tartar virtually non existent. This would cut my hours in half and I'd finally have plenty of time to start that novel that will complete my life and crochet a blanket that my grandkid will treasure. Not to mention that brunch garden I've been meaning to shoddily pitch up in the backyard.
The point is, I'm 21 and I'm a crotchety old bitch already. I refuse to own a cell phone, ever, and I refuse to buy an electric toothbrush. I've only had one cavity, ever, and it was so small that it required no anesthesia to fill it in. I go to my yearly checkup/cleaning, floss once a day, brush twice a day with Rembrandt, and use two different kinds of mouthwash.
I sincerely do not see how an electric toothbrush will make my teeth better in the long run.

i think the only reason an electric toothbrush is better than a regular one is the fact it can get into more tricky bits, an it vibrates..so its good for the lazy people. me, i just use a regular toothbrush, i do one one of the cheapy electric one, that costs like 12 quid but that was just bought by my mum to shove in my stocking. did use it for a while but i didnt really notice a big diff.. I've got a battery operated Oral -B toothbrush. Its about five bucks or so at your local supermarket. So I use that with colgate at three times a day.Works fine, and dandy. However,my sis recently purchased one of those super fancy electric toothbrushes that costs around thirty bucks. I thought that was absurd. You can get by with a regular toothbrush or one of those battery operated ones for a few bucks more.Just keep consistant with brushing and flossing.

electric toothbrushes are fun! Now that the wind called my name,
And my star had faded now hardly a glimpse up in the empty space,
And the wise One-Eyed Great Father,
In the sky stilled my flame.
For the ones who stood me near,
And you few who were me dear,
I ask of thee to have no doubts and no fears.
For when the great clouds fill the air,
And the thunder roars from O, so far away up in the sky,
Then for sure you will know that I have reached the joyous halls up high.

I got me a regular Colgate medium hardness toothbrush. I brush and use Listerine once in the morning, brush after lunch at work, then brush/rinse/floss before bedtime.
The thing is.. I always forget when I need a new toothbrush. I don't know how long before they go "bad". But my mom always puts a new one in my Christmas stocking. So that's cool. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

i buy a new toothbrush about every four months, brush once in the morning with a gargle of peroxide, then brush again after my evenin shower.
from research i've found that teeth need to be brushed "with the grain" to best preserve them. the top incisors need to be brushed by starting at the top, pulling it down the tooth, pulling the brush away from the tooth and repeating that. that is NOT to go up tooth or sideways. it actually wears your teeth down. bottom teeth are the opposite.
it's real easy to do fast, though it *sounds* tedious. it's a cinch.

oh and where i was going with that.
those little electric suckers, from what i've seen, don't really jive with that rule of thumb. so yeah.
they suck. | |
