i've seen specials and reports on people who are, on many different levels, afraid of germs or bacteria. these people constantly wash their hands or use paper towels to open door knobs and so on because they're afraid of getting infected or something. there's a guy at work here who i've noticed doing this on a minimum level, but i asked him about it and he just sheepishly skirted around the question. i want to know if any of you are scared or i guess you could even say overly-conscious of germs around you. what do you do? do you wash your hands a lot or carry around paper towels? i want to know your thoughts about it and i want some insight on what goes through your head when you're in a public place like a restroom. why does it freak you out?

Personally no, but I knew a friends mother who would not leave her room, because of this "among other phobias", but she would constantly wash her hands w/ borax soap, which made the flesh on her hands raw. It was intense. She had to have my friend do everything for her. I would stay the night over, and wake up to her talking to herself in the bathroom washing her scabby hands with borax. But I think she was screwed up in other ways.

yeah, that sounds a little extreme. i'm not talking about quite that extreme, because like i said, the guy at work isn't freakish about it or anything, you can just tell that he's cautious of what he touches and stuff.
