I cut myself and I'm not goth, I just like the feeling of pain.... I don't know why people label each other and themselves. Hate is somthing I'm in the process of trying to understand at the time. People will always hate no matter what. Thats all i can say now.

I didn't choose my label, but isn't that how you get thses things? Everyone labels you and not vice-versa. Since Junior high I was "Nerd", but hey, nerds can afford ferrarís later in life, no?

I suppose if I had any label at all, it'd be the same as Jordyn's husband. A gamer. But since that's only a small part of what I am and what I do, I don't think I'd be hiding behind it. Other labels I could claim would be mother, daughter, co-worker, friend... Those are the ones I try to live up to.

I think for most people, once you're out of high school, labels lose most of their meaning. Labels tend to be more important then, so they know what 'clique' to stick you in... after that, unless your entire life style is reflected in your label, it's no longer important.

I'll use any of those jokingly, but what people call me rarely matters. If it suits people to have to categorize me in order to make their life easier to deal with, fine. Once they've conveniently pigeon-holed me, I'll turn the whole idea on their heads by acting in a completely different manner...

The only point I want to stress is that labels are NOT bad things. Stereotypes are.

I can guarantee that if I get to know any of the so-called "unlabeled/independent" folk, I can find a label that they can not argue against, it may deal with only a tiny fragment of their personality, but it fits nonetheless.

And really, why all the necessity for independence... in the scheme of things we really are ALL independent, just like everyone else.

I think most people actually like the theoretical comeraderie provided by a label, but are afraid that having one means they're stupid. I don't think so, personally. Got no problem with labels, as long as they're of the person's own volition. Being labeled by others is not coo.

Hmm . I don't like to lable myself but I find myself doing it to those around me constantly just out of instict and without thinking. If I was labelled under anything I don't know what it would be. I am usually called a greebo or a mosher by those who don't know me and they think its and insult to say " oh your a greebo !" and I'm like yeah sure I am , whatever and don't take that much notice. The latest thing I have been called is flat chested !!! Which I find hard to believe. People keep calling me that but it aint true ! I don't think I fall into any kind of category apart from a bit weird.

i used to try and find labels to fit into

i tried to fit into the whole "skater" label thing, but i became a poser because well...i never realy learned to skate...

i tried to fit into the whole goth thing but was shunned because according to all the resident goths in my home county "goth isn't something you become, goth is something you are" (they're amusing really, according to all of them there are no true goths and the world should all go hang themselves...)

i even tried the whole prep thing very early on but i was pushed outa that for being too weird

so i just stopped thinking about it. i started wearing the mish-mosh of clothing that had accumulated in my closet due to all my experimentation and strangely enough all of these stereotypes actually started welcoming me back into their circles and claiming me as one of their own...i just kinda laughed at them and went about on my merry little way,

so from that point on out i've hated labels and stereotypes, and other people i've seen doing what i used to do i've tried to explain to them what happened to me, although i really should understand that they won't understand unless they realize it for themselves...
