It does happen these days that somebody who wears black on more than one occasion is labelled a Goth. Obviously just wearing black or having dyed black hair doesn't make somebody a Goth so what does? Is it the music they listen to or the clothes they wear or is it something deeper a philosophical code of some kind. Sure there's plenty of websites & the odd book saying there is but I thought I'd actually ask in a place where there might be some Goths. So what makes someone a Goth?

Im not a goth... But I belong to a subculture... I didn't like... Decide one day that I did... I just am and always was...

Im probably a 70's or 80's throwback... I just fit into the 70's or 80's throwback subculture... Heh... But even then its kinda stupid.. Really, I can't fit in the goth subculture because Im not, nor ever was a goth.

C: Listening to The Cure, Reading books by Anne Rice, Pretending your a witch, writing poetry about how your hand is stapled to your head, wearing black lace/PVC/Leather slutty/gimp clothes off of daddies visa gold card, watching The Crow/The Craft and basing your world around them, going to a Marylin Manson concert/Liking Marylin Manson/Thinking Manson is sexy, Pretending your a vampire/dressing like one/acting like one, wearing black makeup, cutting yourself for something to show your friends/claiming to be suicidal/masochistic, saying that your "not goth, just me." and my favorite telling the world that "I AM WHO I AM, THIS IS WHO I AM! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE IM JUST MISUNDERSTOOD AND YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHAT IM GOING THROUGH" does not make you goth.... It makes you pretendy goth... AKA... Fucking stupid... I actually got a really bad insult off of someone today, while we are on the subject of "goths"... Some spotty comicbook geek walked up to me in Toronto last week whilst I was sitting in a trashcan and acting very girly (Long story, I was afraid of myself that day) ... He said "You act, talk and look just like Tank Girl, heheh, are you sure your not her?"

Do I look like Im a member of a comic book cult? Or do I look like I dedicate my life to a comic book character???? NO I don't think I do....
