See now that I'm an adult...I sleep to avoid monsters...isn't it crazy

im still bad when it comes to sleeping, i have to have my door wide open, it has to actualy be touching my wall..and i have to have my cover tucked under my feet and i have to keep my arms tucked inside the blanket, with just some space to breath or it gets too hot..

the idea is at least if someone is coming to get me i will see them coming, and know where the exit is..

i also used to have to close my cupboard door, but now it has to stay open so that i know nothing is lurking in it..

im just a big kid..

once im all settled though i usualy just fall asleep while dreaming about meeting spike..

Oh man... Until I was six or seven or so, one of my parents had to sit in my room with me until I fell asleep. Otherwise I just totally freaked out. Can't really remember exactly what I was afraid of, though... Then I'd have a night-light on... (weird - just a little lighting is a lot more scarier than total darkness, but back then...)

When I got to be be twelve I usually slept with a wooden sword or something close by. The worst thing was that the damn thing weighed a good fifteen pounds, and probably could have bashed someones brains in...

Finally, I ended up just imagining the monsters (or whatever) walking around my room, looking but not finding me. I still do that, occasionally. For fun.

i always slept with my door open, my mom would read to me, i'd make her read and then listen to me read too, and then dad used to tuck me in at night but it was always so tight that i couldnt move and i didnt much like it.
when we moved to another house i was about 5 and slept with the door open, and i would always stare at the ceilings, they were SO high in that house, and i would daydream...i was always daydreaming, just lost in my own little world no matter when it was...but i'd come back to reality...every night i would ask for a glass of water. no matter what, i'd call to my mom and make her come to my room, then i would ask her for a glass of water. it was probably quite annoying for her...but it used to take me about two hours to get to sleep...bedtime was always so boring, because i couldnt sleep until late. i've been a night person since my early days. after i was about 8 or 9, i had to have my tv on, all the time or i couldnt fall asleep...the quiet was just too quiet and i couldnt sleep. then after a while, maybe 13 or 14, tv turned to music, and i could not sleep without a mixed manson tape my best friend made for me. i'd have to bring my walkman on sleepovers. Now when i want to go to sleep, i just wait until im ready to pass out and stumble to my bed. i always brush my teeth after dinner because if i wait till i'm going to bed, the cold water and minty taste will wake me right back up again. sometiems i fall asleep reading and wake up with the bookmark in the wrong spot, but i've never ruined a book by doing that.
mostly i have to be warm. cant sleep if i'm cold. If I find that I still cant sleep, I usually make myself a nice hot mug of friendship tea...mmm...

(friendship tea is a mix of iced tea crystals, lemonade crystals, and any other drink crystal you like...all mixed in together...you put a teaspoon or two in water, you can have it hot or cold, and its really damn good)

I used to curl up as small as i could and I would hold a cuddly toy, I don't tend to sleep curled up anymore but it someitimes helps for me to put my arm over something...either a pillow or my big blue elephant Sounds stupid..but even though my monsters have gone I sometimes still need the comfort. What can I say...we all get scared sometimes, it isn't that the monsters have gone away exactly, they have just changed into the day to day shit that builds up, it goes round and round in your head making it hard to sleep....at least thats what happens to me sometimes.

Turned my back to the wall and tried to go to sleep facing the doorway.

When I was little I used to leave the door wide open so that the light off the landing came into my bedroom and listen to story tapes. Now that I'm older the light on when I'm trying to get to sleep just annoys me so I wrap myself in a cucoon of quilt withe Freddy and listen to the radio or cds.

i slept with the door open, the radio on, a small lamp on with my dog who usually slept in bed with me.

if i couldn't fall asleep, which was majority of the time, I would close my eyes and let my imagination run wild. i usually thought about different stories and themes.
before i know it i would be waking up to my alarm...

i cant go to sleep with any door open....even when i sleep over i make them close the door.....i dont know why though...

i have alot of these...

i cant sleep in complete darkness because that allows me to either see or think i m seeing things, there has to be some kind of lighting even if its very minimal. i cant sleep without the noise of the fan or of the tv in very low volume because that leaves things quite enough for me to hear things. i cant sleep with my door open because that lets me look out into the hall and it creeps me out, sleeping with my closet door open freaks me out too. once i hear, feel or see something, i cant sleep anymore. so what i do is i turn on the tv (if its not already on) i turn it up a little, pull up the sheets midway up my face and turn to face the wall. i ll start thinkin about other things to distract my mind and i eventually fall asleep.

but it really depends, like if my dad is up or my mom, i ll go watch tv with them for a little while. if my liitle sister is sleeping on my bed that night , i ll just wake her up a little and it makes me feel better.
i dont know, i m a real fraidy cat when it comes to these things, but its mostly because i suppose i ve had experiences with the "paranormal" iand believe in it.

p.s. oh and another thing! i cant sleep on the edge of the bed.

When I was little, and even know, I hated night lights, in fact i hated any light in my bedroom. I was such a little bugger, I used to put a sheet or something along the bottom of my door so no light from the hall way would get in. and then if i still couldnt sleep i would open my window a crack to feel the night on my face. I would lay in bed, all curled up and make stories up in my head.. the silly stories i used to make up *giggles*
I have never been able to sleep with any sort of light, and still cannot... sometimes i find that cleaning or the computer or reading or music or something are the things i usualy want to do the most at night, unless of course i am dead tired. Usualy it takes me hours to fall asleep otherwise.
then theres the silly thing from when i was little. my mom told me that when it was summer time i would use a comforter and when it was winter time i would only use a sheet... i have always been an odd child
