I can't help it. I work at a university. I encourage free thinking on a regular basis. Some of my students can't understand the concept that one doesn't have to be either a Democrat or a Republican...

Well, remember, we're talking about a group of two dozen first-time college students, mostly 18, some as young as 16 (high school students in a running start program). I've already told them that ignorance is a condition in abundance in our country and it's nothing to be ashamed of, so long as they're willing to take the chance and learn, but yes, it gets a little exasperating sometimes.

I've told them that my personal definition for stupidity is: "willful ignorance."
