| The VIOLIN -
11-09-07
I was thinking of learning how to play. Though I figured I'd see what the internets had to say about their experiences with it, and if this violin seemed like a good deal: Brand New - 4/4 full Size, Violin for Beginner - (eBay item 270182089329 end time Nov-06-07 20:23:16 PST)

that's fuckin peanuts.
they seem to be selling a few.
go for it. 50p for a violin is good. If you think a forum is going downhill, you have no-one to blame but yourself.

I did the same thing once. I figured, what the fuck, I'm a drummer, bassist and guitarist, and I can read both treble and bass clefs, so perhaps I might be able to play the violin . . .
WRONG!
Very hard instrument. But good luck. I was masturbating

i wanted to play the cello, but was told my fingers were too short, i don't play any instruments now.
so i say go for it! if you can do it, do it for those of us who had crappy music instructors and cocky, elitist band members. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

i played violin for 3 years... lots of emotion in that instrument. i would not recomend buying one if you cant hold it and examine it yourself first...... just a better idea. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

you have talent and i'd like to point that out, if you don't mind. i don't want to make it into a huge ordeal, but if you excel at one particular area in life it should be recognized by your peers. here it goes;
you are the only star trek super-nerd i know that can go from androgynous creepy kid to absolute yeast bearing vagina in one single post. do you plan on standing on a random roof with your tampax fiddle in hand screeching out something reminiscent of a cat with its asshole sewn shut? learning how to play a pussified version of a horizontal guitar won't get you laid, ever. did i say ever yet? yeah, but i think i need to reiterate it one more time. EVER! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Ok...so..
Wow.
Firstly you don't buy your instrument online. You need to get measured/sized for the instrument. Secondly, if could come in pieces and you're screwed.
Secondly do you even know the difference between the makes and models of a Violin? Probably not.
Student models are machine made and therefore give you a crap quality of sound. But when you're a beginner, you just need something to get you by.
I just bought my new Viola (because I'm tired of playing my violin) for $3200. It was hand made, and its the second best to a Strad.
Do you know the difference between a Viola and Violin? Do you have a teacher?
I've played the viola for 13 years and the violin for 9. The instruments become an extension of you and your expression.
Do more research- you'll need to be sized, find the right instrument, play it a few times, make sure its right, get the right strings, resin, bow and case. Lets not forget the books shall we. So lets just do some simple math.
Student instrument: $700
Case: $150-400
Bow: $70-1000
Resin: $4-50
Books: $20
Depending on the quality? You'll be looking to dish out a little over $2000. I thought it was previously established loyalty had been flung from the skyscraper of life, and is now smeared across the pavement like a jar of preserves.

| You sir, are totally missing the point. First let me applaud you on not using vulgar language and insults about my mangina and actually sticking to the points. Now lets rip open your post and mock it, but first lets examine something: Quote: |
I was thinking of learning how to play.
| I express thinking of wanting to learn something new. Not buy a great violin to which I'll rise to fame and make oogles amounts of money. With your apparent deep knowledge of the instrument in question you should have thought back to when you learned your instrument(s), and what drove you to try them. Even if you didn't have a reason to and you were forced to learn you're post speaks for itself; you don't care whether or not I want to learn, just what a poor quality the violin in question is and how much you think someone should spend. | If I wanted the full Playstation 3 quality and performance with the best imaging available I'd dish out about the same. I'm not after the best, I'm just here to play, and if I like it I'll consider getting a better one. That'll be years away. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. I don’t need you to applaud me for my lack of vulgar language. It'll come in fair time as I become more familiar with this forum- or when the Xanax wears off.
Secondly when you present a Violin in question asking if its a decent deal, one is to assume that you're going to actually be serious about playing. So let me re-direct you on how we think. Take detailed notes.
-Why do I think I may want to play?
-Can I afford it
*With this second note of thinking, if you cant afford it, back out.*
-Will I blow? Probably. So who around here teaches
-Find a teacher
-Ask about Violins and where you should go and get one
-Don’t step on it. It’s fragile.
I was indeed on eBay but not under this name.
But someone else has it planted in my head that by talking to you my sex life will diminish rapidly. This cant happen. So we'll no longer discuss the Violin. Sorry. Sex is more important. I thought it was previously established loyalty had been flung from the skyscraper of life, and is now smeared across the pavement like a jar of preserves.

wow.
Alpha, don't ever try that again. You seriously can't do it.
And find some chick who'll let you put your dick in her. You may find one at a renaissance fair. If you think a forum is going downhill, you have no-one to blame but yourself.

| If this is the way you do anything in life it's an abomination.
1Obviously this step has passed, and second, what if it's not your choice?
2Price should never be a factor. Means of getting it should always be available.
3Back out of something because of money? Ruin a life experience because you lack funds? Hardly seems logical for someone trying to enjoy life.
4What about the love of playing the instrument? What if I pull a Buff Bill and only play bymyself and love every moment of it?
5Teachers are for students, students are people who need help learning.
6Although a logical deduction, that's what research is for. Of which at the time of posting is what I was doing. Quote: |

I think you're a silly person. Why buy or invest time in an instrument that you dont know how to play and even with books, would you know what style is correct? I thought it was previously established loyalty had been flung from the skyscraper of life, and is now smeared across the pavement like a jar of preserves.
