I feel like the loch ness monster on every second tuesday, I could totally take you. A golden energy
Was rising out of my head
I shed my evil skin
And found myself again I was wrong, I don't mind
The impossible seems possible
This time I'm an electric wire
If the sun can radiate then so can I

I guess it's just the fact that I think the whole world of furdom is based on a fetish, and nothing more. | HA the fandom has 2 aspects and ive addressed this before...
the fandom :dressing as your species or fursona and meeting other furs, its a hugging scritching world, life is good.
the fetish : just putting on a suit and fucking another fur in suit. essentially being turned on by fucking in suit o.0
i cant get into the fetish aspect...i just cant...i dont care for it. quit your fucking whining.

But still, putting on the suit sounds just like dress up, not necessarily with the spiritual/mental connections to your chosen animal.
Why specifically a thylacine? A golden energy
Was rising out of my head
I shed my evil skin
And found myself again I was wrong, I don't mind
The impossible seems possible

Oh, and also, I think I should replace "fetish" with the world "extreme brand of weirdness." You guys are just Trekkies without the capacity for trivia.

oi christ its so difficult to explain properly....especially when im being ganged up on here!
wtf?!
i chose a thylacine because theyre unique...rare, among other things.
tho if i had to pick a more accurate animal for myself, id be a cat. nothing exotic..just a cat. i have very feline features, and an excellent sence of balance. quit your fucking whining.

First off, since this is my first post, a small introduction. I'm Strife, I'm a furry, and the character I play is a Raichu. Yes, that's right, smartass.
I do kind of have that animal thing going on, but it's more canine than anything; my choice of character as a furry comes from two things: 1) I think Raichu is extremely cute ( ) 2) I can associate myself with the stereotypical qualities given to mice (as in Aesop's fables, etc.): being quiet, timid, and so on. But I digress.
If I were to choose a non-copyrighted basis for a furry 'self, (which I'm thinking of doing anyway)' it would likely be canine. Why is this? Because I feel like I have some of the mentalities of your average dog. Now, contrary to what you think, one doesn't have to _verbally_ communicate with something to learn a lot about them, and know that he or she is feeling some of the same things. Fact is, for some reason, certain things dogs like, I like too (I mean besides obvious stuff like eating or sex). The things I'm talking about are not things that the average person cares about, and I truly have no explanation for liking stuff like this. Here are some examples:
1) Licking comes naturally to me as a form of showing affection. And on the other side, I get an unexplained feeling of content if I am licked, especially on my face.
2) Being petted (just like one would a dog) also gives me this deep-seated feeling of content and relaxation.
That's enough for now. My point is that I have a kind of 'animal in me' feeling too, and that it comes from the fact that there is _stuff_ in my mind that is unexplained, and I also cannot 'blame' it on childhood trauma or anything like that. To be honest, when I was younger, dogs scared the life out of me, ironically enough. Presently, I love dogs to death, and have as much respect for them as I do humans. But that's beside the point.
You cannot know what another human is feeling on the inside any better than you can know what another species is feeling. People are fundamentally inept at describing their _own_ emotions, and humans vary so much that there is almost nothing common to the entire species. In fact, it is very arguable that humans are far _less_ straightforward in communicating their feelings than other species, and that you could interpret the 'inner workings' of a dog (sticking to one other species for continuity and length's sake) far more easily than that of another person.
Humans have this amazing ability 'think outside the box' of their own physical existence. No one can say for sure what makes me a furry, or makes my mind align itself (at least partially) with that of a canine, but as far as "you don't KNOW what an animal feels like on the inside:"
That's bull. Humans are just about the only species where the outside is frequently made to mask the inside. With just about any other species, what you see is what you get; what's outside is what's inside too.

So, you're a thylacine because they're rare. That's it?

Maybe with a well-known pet you could intuit things, but not with any animal. A golden energy

With just about any other species, what you see is what you get; what's outside is what's inside too. | Humans can talk to each other, like "blah blah blah" talking. Understanding an animal's emotions would be based entirely on extrapolation, and that's pretty presumptuous most of the time. And what's all this crap about playing a character? I thought you yourself were a thylacine. Also, I know people who lick and pet and all that stuff you said, and they're still very human.
There has to be some reason why you feel like there's an animal in there, as opposed to you just being an eccentric human. I still think it's just because you find it fun and alluring, like all other fan-type people.
