What was your worst nightmare, and your best dream?

Nightmare:

I was walking through a field with wildflowers growing in it. I came across a dog that I grew up with named Buck. He was a beautiful dog; Husky, Shepherd, and Collie mix, and I missed him alot. When I saw himI ran to him, and knelt down to hold him, suddenly I saw in his eyes and they were hollow and black, evil, and he bared his teeth and I woke up when he bit my face. Ill never forget that dream because it was so vivid, I swear it was real.


Fav Dream:

I used to be able to relax deeply before sleep, and dream that I could fly, like swimming through the air. I would "swim" over my house, and even as far as my high schoool. It was a blast, and I never went far because somehow I know if I got lost I couldnt get back for some reason. Oh it was so free and wonderful.

*grins* swimming... that's cool!

I can't remember my worst dream... *shrugs* I purposely shut them away... but my best dreams are always about flying...

I have had 2 dreams in my life that were clearly NOT dreams and would like to share their details with u...
One was when my beloved Siberian Husky's spirit came to me after her death to comfort me in my mourning and the other was...Just recently when I was "fed" on by a Vampire....

These were NO dreams!!!

Its extremely hard for me to choose just one dream that was the worst. I was diagnosed with PSTD about 4 years ago b/c I've been raped twice and within the past 5 years or so, 15 people amongst my friends and family have died in close proximity. Most have been tragic, and it seems that somehow I've witnessed most of them in one way or another. So my worst dreams are about the rape and all the individual deaths. I rarely have good dreams anymore But when I do have a good dream, it's usually about flying as well...

I suffer from sleep paralysis (http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/S_P2.html#pp). I didn't even know what it was until I learned about it in one of my classes; before that, I thought I was just going nuts.
The doc says there's nothing I can do about it, so meh. Um... it's kind of a spot right between sleep and awake, but whatever it is, it scares the crap outta me, and I therefore am afraid of sleepin. Used to happen a few times a week, but it's died down lately, which is good.

My favorite dream ever was one like Valmorgan's, in which I could fly. I'd fly over the neighborhood, city, state, ocean, space, etc. That's kinda my idea of heaven: getting to see everything without bein afraid. bling bling.

antihero, my dad suffers from sleep paralysis as well. He takes something called Xzenoxodine, (sp?), that's supposed to help with the symptoms or something. He began taking it about a year ago and he said that it's helped. Just thought I'd let ya know about it

Actually, no, mine was more Superman-esque. There was no feeling of being in a liquid environment. I haven't had one of those dreams for a long time, though *sigh*. They rocked. I remember when I was like 7 years old, I had one where my mom and I were superheroes and would fly around fighting crime. That also rocked.

My favorite dream, my favorite nightmare... one and the same. This is the origin of the nickname I use sometimes,

"Alluring-Nightmare"

It was while I was on a trip in Australia, a working holiday visa... I had been there for nearly 10 months, and was due to go home shortly. A lot of events had happened while there, that I was not really proud of, a lot of things had happened while there, which left me feeling broken. Everybody wears a mask at one point during their life, and to make a very long story short, the events had smashed everything that lay behind my own mask, leaving me with the one part of me I hated the most... the part that wasn't a very accurate representation of me...

Anyways... I can remember dreaming that I was back at home with one of my best friends, and I was out on the porch of the cabin we were staying in one evening, hanging up clothes on a clothes line which was strung along the length of it... and I can remember hearing feet coming up the steps behind me, and a male voice saying, "You may want to stay outside, I have a little present for your friend.." and then the sound of the door opening and closing... the key thing in my memory in that dream, was the image of his shadow stretched along the porch, and though I hadn't turned to see such, the shadow had revealed that he held a gun in his hand. I wrapped a shirt around my hand, and smashed the window which was right beside me. I crawled in through the window, for I knew that the door had been locked, and the two of them just stood there staring at me, my friend with a really sad expression on her face... the man, with kinda an incredulous look which was odd for he didn't really have a face... a moment passed and then he just sorta said, "Fine, I guess you can have the present which I had intended for your friend here..." and then he raised the gun, and shot me once in my abdomen, low and to the left, and once right in the centre of my chest... I can still remember quite vividly, how it felt... it felt like being hit really really hard, a very brief flash of pain, and then the shock just sort of made me go numb... while I fell to the ground. Then everything around me went distant, while I can remember tears slipping down my face, as I felt the most beautiful feeling anybody could ever imagine... a feeling of complete and utter calm, and peace, and just love to the purest degree that you could ever have it... something that I now hold with a firm belief, I know that I will never find that feeling as long as I am alive and on this earth..

They say that if you die in a dream, then you die in real life as well... which is why I think the next part of the dream was such complete and utter bullshit.. .~laughs softly~ I can remember quite clearly hearing this soft whisper in my head, "Follow the cockroaches through the cabbage patch"... which I did.. which was severly odd, because I absolutely hate cockroaches with a passion.. (something I learned while in Australia) and then suddenly that image faded and I was "back on the floor of the cabin, while my friend held me and cried and cried and cried" and I can remember trying to comfort her and nothing seemed to work... I kept on trying to let her know that I was okay... she never got it. During my "death" she had called an ambulance, and she kept on telling me that they would be here soon... to hold on... and so on. And then she ran out the door. I followed her, and she ran down the street to a nearby store... which I followed her into. I was still trying to let her know that I was okay, and the store manager was trying to console her as well saying that he was sure I'd be fine... then she took off outta the store and down the road again. Again, I followed, and then we saw the ambulance coming down the road.. I was kinda relieved for I figured that maybe now they were here, she'd calm down... only when they pulled over and she leapt in, saying that I was back on the floor of the cabin, and began to give them directions... it hit me as they drove off... that beautiful feeling I had felt, had been death's embrace.

I actually woke up crying, because at the time, the way I felt about life was that I really truly did not want to live it. The dream, really did not help that any and for a few weeks I was quite depressed, all I wanted was to feel that feeling of pure happiness and love like I had felt in the dream.. and I still remain firm that I will never find that while alive on earth.. it was like a wave of all the best things just washing over and through and bathing me, cleansing me...

That was the only dream I died in... which wasn't a very positive dream, yet it will forever be my favorite. It was also the most lucid dream I have ever had...

It was interesting, because I was telling someone I know about this dream just recently, he is in the US Army, and when I finished he was just kinda quiet for a while, and then he said that the way that I described how it felt to be shot, was identical to how his friends who actually have been shot before have described it... so that kinda freaked me out.

I used to have that dream a lot the flying one … then just irrational dreams … like been inside a rainbow … or paint of different color ..mixing …. And feeling spacious , then I dream with walls a lot … I dream of rooms .. different types of rooms … color rooms .. with nothing but walls … I dreamed for a week with an extremely tall room made out of concrete .. with a single window .. in a high point of it .. with a grey metal chair …in the middle of it …on the floor where I sit .. and I just sit.. for ours thinking of foolish things , and some important ones . every time was different , I’m usually able to recall my dreams to almost perfect detail , but I never ever seem to recall faces … instead I recall a feeling of who he/she /it was … but I do remember what they were doing and wearing at any point … I’m also on half conciseness and control , kind of like in real life , perhaps that’s why it feels so authentic .
I once dream of a blue cube that smelled sterile , and started to fill up with crystal clear but sort of bluish water … then I got nervous as it filled … then the last drop of air was gone … but I was breathing … and just when I started to feel joyful ..a side wall fell down and all the water washed with me into a cliff to the ocean , it was a sunny day and I felt the smell of spring .. on my way down I was able to see a million things in such a short time …. Then I was in the ocean and I looked from the bottom up and felt so comforted by the rays of light that tingled trying to price the deep blue sea …. I play with dolphins … for a while and then I swam to the dark bottom of the sea .. and I fell asleep …perhaps not asleep ..but I took a nap …. And woke up on the green grass on a hill and I was able too see only beauty further than my eyes could see .. that the way I felt at least . and I flew without making an effort to do so … and images and places passed quickly in front of me … as I slowly started to gain consciousness … well a few nights ago I had an odd dream … more like a quest… some post apocalyptic adventure on a re-borne earth deal , with odd creatures , were I was basically running from it all to a place of rest ..or something more like chasing something I didn’t know the looks of .but the feeling of it … anyway …. I like dreaming ….most of my dreams are pleasant .. and I have very few nightmares ….

hmmm you know what i think that gargoyle... should make section for dreams... i think it should be really neat and interesting to read.... tonight i had a weird dream... but a short one... i couldn't last through it...

Thats really wild... I was really young like that too when that happened. Im shocked most of you had the same type of dream. I wonder how common that dream is to society in general.

I pretty sure that I once read that dreams of falling and flying are the most common.
