i think that kinda heightened his vigelante status. after all, the whole reason he went into the business was to get revenge (although not killing revenge) upon the kind of people who killed his parents by bringing them to justice. and a person who takes the law into his own hands, for their own satisfaction, is kinda a vigelante. of course with most of them he sets them up to be caught by the law, which is kinda a wussy half assed vigilante.
to me a superhero is someone with superhuman abilities. of course some superheros (superman) are not human, but still, have abilities far superior to those of a normal person. the hero, is basically doing good. putting themselves on the line to help others. heroic acts, heroic doings etc. the superhero coming about because they are someone who does amazing heroic things, with their superior abilities.
batman is someone who does heroic things, and has heightened abilities. but not superhuman. he's just learned to use his human form and unlock more of its potential.
the question being, when does someone become a superhero? when are their abilities seen as superhuman?
but the reason for bruce wayne's actions, the cause of him going out and doing such things (catching criminals) comes from the rage inside him at his parents murder. he wants to bring justice to those who do such things.
he's just a man in a suit hiding behind an alter ego to punish bad men.
