I'm coming to London at the end of the year for five days, between 30. dec and 4. jan. I need some help with all the places to go! It's a huge city and only 5 days to enjoy. I need info about good clubs to visit (metal and goth clubs, alternative clubs) and some serious shopping places and shops(alternative clothing, erotica shops and some other unusual shops). I'm sure I visit the London Dungeon and some museums but I need something more so give me a hand and suggest something worth to visit!

For shopping I would suggest Camden, especially on a Saturday, but prepare yourself, it gets swamped. To the extent that they close Camden tube at a specific time of the day. Try not to just go to Camden High Street but all the Markets located near the Lock Market, and try the Stable Market too. You are bound to find absolutely anything you need there. For "erotica" shops you should try Soho, it's small and easy to find your way around. You may also find some cool shops on Oxford High Street, but it's huge!
Clubs: Wednesdays I would suggest the Electric Ballroom, grand venue but a bit too commercial for my taste. Though they do have a little metal "club" on the second floor.
Tuesdays and Thursdays would be a good time to check out Gossips in Dean street, Soho. Quaint little under ground level club with various "themes" every night of the week. Tuesdays being Gothic and Thursdays Industrial. I think Monday could be Metal, I'm not too sure.
Then Slimelight on Saturdays. It's one of the most expensive (alternative) clubs to get into and they usually deny you entry unless you can enter with a member. But if you're in a group of girls only you definitely get in and at a reduced cost too!

I would also advise you try and find out what gigs are going down during that time. You may be in luck and get to see a favourable artist perform.

Ps. The Electric Ballroom is in Camden, literally by the tube and Slimelight is in Angel, also very close to the tube in Angel. Which is great, you can actually walk to it from the tube!

oh come on... I'm not going to play stupid! I really need help to find my way in London. Thank you Lilith for nice tips.. i will use them to plan my trip. My hotel is near hyde park and kensington gardens. Is it far from that camden place? I've heard about something called The Underground, is it just a place where bands go to perform and for gigs or is it a club or something? I may sound stupid with my questions but London is a big town and last time i've been to london was about 17 years ago, when i was about 5 years old... more tips, hints anything!!

and hey! where can i see tour dates, gigs and so on happening in london at new years time? It would be too big task to do if I check out every bands homepage if they are in london that time...

The London Underground is the cities Mass transit 'Subway' system although subways in the UK are tunnels that go under roads for ease of pedestrian movement.

The garage is quite good for a bit of Live music.

ALthough Lillith seems sold on the pretentious twaddle that is Slimelights, it is the only 'alternaitve' club you'll find in london

queensway is a great place to go too. great there.

get yourself a good travelcard, one that'll let you use all the buses and tubes. they cost around about 13 quid for a day and let you use ALL the transport. tubes, main trains, and buses and everything. alot of the time it's easier to walk but sometimes u just dont wanna coz of shite weather and also distance. plus tubes are faster.

electric ballroom hell yeah, damn great place that is. some fuckin shweet people there.

would have to ask expert advice from others but thats all i can say and know. make sure you check out cyberdog, black rose, electric ballroom shop, the blue shop, indoor market, the wierd party shop, um.... ok i cant remember any more names i just know the places.
