Youngwerther , I got to know one thing in the years I've been around and I wanted to share that with you .
Life can not be learned out of a book ! Live it !
Even if your IQ is 200 something that doesn't help you to live ! Experience does , Friends do , interacting with all kinds of people does even the plastic kind !

Yeah.. I coasted through school, scraping by with the bare minimum regarding attendance and grades. But I had fun. It doesn't make me stupid; it makes me apathetic. Billy's right. It's not what you know but who you know. If you can market yourself correctly, you don't need to recognize Mozart pieces.
Me, I prefer to be happy and travel and have good friends over being an intellectually posturing asshole. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

yeah, being an intellectual posturing asshole seems to be werther's bag.
i personally think there's a lot to be said for knowing stuff... you should know it for yourself, though, not to impress other people. beyond that, it's not what you know but how useful you are and in the eyes of what people... being the smartest asshole alive doesn't mean much cuz you're still an asshole. lol O divine art of subtlety and secrecy! Nothing wrong with knowing stuff. I know plenty. But I don't need to know stuff to validate my own life.

I remember my rejection from the Honors Society some 3 weeks ago. my Gpa was a point too low for me to quality because I took challenging and time consuming classes like creative writing, drama and art! meanwhile, the less worthy skated by on shop and home ec. classes while i was the one trying to better myself; oh the injustice!
with stiff resolve i planned to sit through the ceremony of these plastic people receiving their token pat on the back. they would get theirs, graduation would come and they would be shuffled off to degree mill state colleges or have some shitty factory jobs because their intellects did not have an iota of what this hellhole high school pretends they have.
i would be.... indifferent.
but then the precession started, and the students began filing through the auditorium, bearing candles, and... have any of you had to deal with such an injustice? please, tell me that i'm not as alone as i think i am. | Life ain't fair; the sooner you suck it up and deal with it, the easier life becomes. have any of you had to deal with such an injustice? please, tell me that i'm not as alone as i think i am. | I was in the National Honors Society, Lation Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, etc. They're just a bunch of things that make your application to colleges and organizations look fancy. Plus, you spend some parts of your weekend volunteering. If you care so much about being in it, then quit being lazy and work for it. You can't really expect things to fall into your lap especially things like girls. Get off your fucking ass and quit whining and do something with your idle life. It's high school for goodness sake, do you really think these things matter? After high school and college, that's when life is going to smack you in the face. You spend most of it paying bills and trying to live a decent life. Enjoy the lack of responsibilities and carelessness.
P.S. It sucks to be you. | |

responsibility? according to the poet percy shelley, poets are the moral leglislators of the world? with my pen i shape the interpretation of emotion, good and evil, right and wrong, heaven and hell!
i am not one to pay "bills" in life for my calling is higher than that. someday i will be a famous poet and i will travel the world to bask in the admiration i am sure to get!
my responsibility will be so weighty that i may even crack under the pressure and commit suicide, so don't tell me what responsibility is you knave! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

lol. youngwerther, you're living in the past. poets don't become world famous anymore, they become famous to certain cliques and social circles now and fifty years from now kids will talk shit about you while reading your work, and that's the best you can hope for even if you are good. you won't be rich, you won't be famous, and you probably won't be well loved. cold intellectuals will admire your work, and you can die satisfied academically but wanting more. look to satisfy yourself on the inside, don't depend on others. others are unreliable. What difference does either side of the argument make anyway?
What worries me most of the time is that the same people Werther is bitching about are the same people that skip entry level and go directly to middle management positions in corporate America, mind you, having no management skills, no people skills, and only knowing how to lie to get by, not to mention that the same likely don't even know how to balance their checkbooks or read a map on their own, hence my disgust and my exit from the corporate world, never to return unless absolutely necessary to life and death. I'm not saying EVERYONE is like that, though in my experience, I have seen some horrifying things.
Yes, not getting kudos when you feel you have worked hard isn't fun.
And Werther, no need to be on a high horse, so come down before you get a nose bleed. "Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people."---C. G. Jung

It seems to me that he's bitching about people he hasn't bothered to get to know and feels are beneath him. You can't be an obvious dumbshit and have GPA required to get into the NHS. Sounds like someone's a little butthurt that he couldn't get in. That's all. It's not the fraternal order of the fucking moose. It's a high school club that looks nice on a college application. HOWEVER you can still get into a decent college without it. So this whole thread is stupid and should be deleted. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

It's not funny. I've been here 6 years; I've seen funny. This is lame. This guy is lame. And I'm hungry and ready to get off work. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

Well, I think it's fucking hilarious. I'm giggling. Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose the former, and have seen no reason to change.
