Yeah.. I coasted through school, scraping by with the bare minimum regarding attendance and grades. But I had fun. It doesn't make me stupid; it makes me apathetic. Billy's right. It's not what you know but who you know. If you can market yourself correctly, you don't need to recognize Mozart pieces.

Me, I prefer to be happy and travel and have good friends over being an intellectually posturing asshole.

i personally think there's a lot to be said for knowing stuff... you should know it for yourself, though, not to impress other people. beyond that, it's not what you know but how useful you are and in the eyes of what people... being the smartest asshole alive doesn't mean much cuz you're still an asshole. lol

Mozart was playing. it was pachebel cannon no. 5, and the overwhelming beauty of it simply overwhelmed me! this fine piece of music which none of these shallow morons could recognize was being associated, in the eyes of all, with those who could never approach appreciation for it. the justaposition of that beautiful music with that circus act of injustice was too much to bear. i fled the auditorium and spent the rest of the afternoon in the bathroom, pretending to defecate.

have any of you had to deal with such an injustice? please, tell me that i'm not as alone as i think i am.

I was in the National Honors Society, Lation Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, etc. They're just a bunch of things that make your application to colleges and organizations look fancy. Plus, you spend some parts of your weekend volunteering. If you care so much about being in it, then quit being lazy and work for it. You can't really expect things to fall into your lap especially things like girls. Get off your fucking ass and quit whining and do something with your idle life. It's high school for goodness sake, do you really think these things matter? After high school and college, that's when life is going to smack you in the face. You spend most of it paying bills and trying to live a decent life. Enjoy the lack of responsibilities and carelessness.

lol. youngwerther, you're living in the past. poets don't become world famous anymore, they become famous to certain cliques and social circles now and fifty years from now kids will talk shit about you while reading your work, and that's the best you can hope for even if you are good. you won't be rich, you won't be famous, and you probably won't be well loved. cold intellectuals will admire your work, and you can die satisfied academically but wanting more. look to satisfy yourself on the inside, don't depend on others. others are unreliable.

What worries me most of the time is that the same people Werther is bitching about are the same people that skip entry level and go directly to middle management positions in corporate America, mind you, having no management skills, no people skills, and only knowing how to lie to get by, not to mention that the same likely don't even know how to balance their checkbooks or read a map on their own, hence my disgust and my exit from the corporate world, never to return unless absolutely necessary to life and death. I'm not saying EVERYONE is like that, though in my experience, I have seen some horrifying things.

Yes, not getting kudos when you feel you have worked hard isn't fun.

It seems to me that he's bitching about people he hasn't bothered to get to know and feels are beneath him. You can't be an obvious dumbshit and have GPA required to get into the NHS. Sounds like someone's a little butthurt that he couldn't get in. That's all. It's not the fraternal order of the fucking moose. It's a high school club that looks nice on a college application. HOWEVER you can still get into a decent college without it. So this whole thread is stupid and should be deleted.
