These young men have invaded his home several times before and each time were long gone before the late police arrival. The past history shows that Tony Martin had good reason to be in fear for his life. To let the criminals escape is to allow them yet another opportunity to come back.
A man's home is his castle, his sanctuary. As such it is to be defended.

BTW, the .357 Magnum revolver is about the most versatile handgun. You can vary the loads for different uses. A 125gr semi-jacketed hollowpoint bullet from a .357 Magnum revolver beats any of the 9mm parabellum rounds for stopping power on humans. Moving on to the .357 magnum hunting loads, the 180gr jacketed softpoint load is great for killing deer. The 200gr hard-cast load is suitable for protection from bear To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Same here, I call bullshit on Dirge's post.
For that matter, some gun magazine, I think it was guns and ammo, had an article a few years ago that was about the .357 had been tested against animals to be the most lethal of all handguns (note, this was in a foreign country, and before shooting animals for science was outlawed in that country). A 9mm is the same diameter as a .357, just LESS gunpowder. And seeing as less gunpowder often results in less velocity, the 9mm, while a nice handgun, simply is not as good as a .357.
Crack the engine block on an army truck, eh?? So would that be the hummer, the 5 ton, the deuce and a half, or one of the other dozens of trucks in the army, most with completely different engines?
And just for the record, my dream handgun is a Freedom Arms .357, the one with the 9 inch barrel, loaded with those 200 grain bullets made for that gun only. I cant remember the name of the bullet manufactorer, but the bullet is too powerful for any other .357 firearm except for the Freedom Arms handgun. Great gun, tons of powa. ________________________________ | |

The truck was a Duece and a half and the bullets were military grade I will admit I did not witness this event but it happened to my cousin he had an N/D and the bullet richochet off the engine block but DID manage to put a small crack in it! That story will live on in Regimental History im sure. And to begin with I was just adding a little levity into this thread I have nuthin but love for the .357! fired one once

Hoplophobia is an irrational and morbid fear of guns, a term coined by Jeff Cooper, from Greek "hoplites," weapon. Symptoms may include discomfort, disorientation, rapid pulse, sweating, faintness and more, at the mere sight or even thought of guns. Hoplophobes are common and should never be involved in setting gun policies, though many are hard at work in the rights-denial movement, and are arguably the greatest threat in the debate. Point out hoplophobic behavior when you see it, it is dangerous, and sufferers deserve pity. A hoplophobe (HOP-li-fobe) can often be cured by training, or by a day at the range. The Taurus is a good gun for defense, hunting, and target shooting. Don't worry about wearing it out, Taurus backs their guns with a lifetime warranty. If something goes wrong, one only has to ship it back to the factory for free repair.
I recommend getting in alot of shooting practice. Try different loads to see what is most accurrate. I also recommend getting into handloading for saving money on ammunition.
You can get started with the Lee turrent press kit and a set of dies for well under $200. You will get the money back on money saved on ammunition costs. I also recommend getting the bullet casting kit and bullet mold so as to use scrap lead for casting bullets. Used wheel weights are a good source of lead and can be had free from tire shops.
I used to shoot three hundred rounds a week when I was competitive and its only because I was saving the brass cases and reloading them with new primers, powder, and cast bullets that I could afford to stay in training. They make some ear protection today that allows you to hear low decible sound (ie. coversation) while filtering out the damaging loud noises. Their lack of experience with firearms has made them into hoplophobic sheeple. The concept of self defense is alien to them and is much of the reason why crime in the UK is so out of control. There`s that fear again. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.
