Who here plays a Musical Instrument? I know some of you have mentioned it in the past, but I can't remember who anymore.

Right now I play Piano; while trying to teach myself Violin (which you should all remember, and shame on you if you don't).
I was thinking of picking up Guitar for it's delightful sound, and with plenty of online support for self learning. Though I think I'll just stick to the two previous mentioned instruments for the time being; I think I'd love playing it.

I used to play the piano, years and years and years ago... got really good at it too, but then I quit because my teacher and my mother both wanted to get me to start taking the tests... (I took the level 8 one, but refused to do Level 9 ) ...I passively aggressively let them know I refused, by simply stopping my practicing, and then my mom sold the piano, and I haven't played since, really....

I've played accordion (yeah, stop laughing already!) a long lonnnnnnnng time ago, and haven't done it in awhile; also, I've played bass, on and off, for about 20 years. (I wish I was good at it, but I'm reeeeeeeeeally rusty; it's been more "off" than "on"). I also sing, too.

Trombone, alto sax, baritone, quads, suspended cymbal, sousaphone.

Marching band ftw.

Drum kit, percussion, orchestral percussion, cello, a tad of piano i guess, decks, synths, anything computer based.

I used to play the bagpipes when I was in the cadets.
Have thought of taking it up again, purely to annoy people.

Can't play the piano or guitar anymore since a truck accident in '91 caused my left thumb to not work properly. Not to mention it dislocates too easily.
Good for getting out of handcuffs though.

Keys, (rusty), synth&othersuch sound production, electronic percussion(drum machines rule), I love me some fruit loops, I once tried to play guitar and it sounded like a zombie cat with its tail caught in a meat grinder.

used to play the chanter when i was younger. thinking about picking it up again since i just found it the other day. i was rubbish on the bagpipes though. just sounded like a million kittens were being drowned.

Hmm.. Did triples ( if you don't know, ask ), Cymbals, snare, Played piano. good if i wasn't thinking, so-so if i was being watched or thought about what i was doing. Guitar, But i sux..

Apparently you're all musically inclined. How come none of you bothered to pursue a career? (Out side of sucking and not being interested in such a thing/life events, ect.)

How do you know we haven't?

I've been in multiple bands, played multiple gigs, recorded in studios, made cds, toured with other bands... sometimes bands break up and sometimes you get tired of the scene and tired of making new bands with other people, or get tired of their bullshit.

It isn't the easiest industry to get into. Easy as hell to get out of though.

I did the band thing, too, and recorded in a studio (loved that)! But too much drama involved....I'd love to do it again sometime, but I'm so far out of the loop it's sick.

The drama is why I left it really.

Some people just think they're the nuts,
some kiss ass and suck each other's dicks,
some invent retarded "traits" to try make out theyre better than others or cooler,
some are so up their own arses but actually suck the biggest dick,

True. My biggest problem was when things were going great, the drummer and the rhythm guitarist (who had hooked up.....I had no idea) were in a lesbian love triangle with the drummer's girlfriend, and it got ugly FAST.

*shrugs* I'm sure there's a song in there somewhere.......

Like I need to spell it out - I ASS-U-ME that because no one here is rich (assuming again) then they didn't make a career out of their music (at least in this thread).

Come on now, it's Alpha, not some smart guy on the subway. Good story either way; did you by any chance write a book about your experience by any chance?

Maybe make your own loop? (is that even possible?)

There is a program called Fruit Loops that allows you to create loops on your computer and string them together Or you can create them on FL and import them over to Sony Acid Studio which is a great program for creating songs from several loops.

You do need to spell it out, i don't think you or anyone else knows what you're on about.

Millions of people make careers out of music and are by no means rich.
Infact, i'd say a very large percentage would be what you consider to be poor.

Only a very small percentage of musicians are the ones you see on mtv.
And most of those, calling them musicians is a joke.
