Mind over matter means when you can control, or influence your surroundings using sheer willpower alone. Total control over this makes you able to alter reality. Think...Matrix, to simplify it.

Something rather than someone...like, for example, if you drive, and you decide that you only want green lights...or you want to find a parking spot on a crowded parking lot. If you use your willpower to influence the world around you, to always give you green light, always let you find a place to park, because you willed it so.

That is a stupid answer to a simple question. Mind over matter is simply using your mind over your body. Thinking, before acting. For example, your neighbors dog keeps shitting in your yard, your immediate reaction is to beat the hell out of your neighbor, but instead you give it some thought, and build a fence. This solution benefits everyone and accomplishes much more than a physical beating.

There's no magic involved.

work smarter not harder.

although i don't think the matrixesque interpretation is too far off either, but typically it's on a more basic scale.

sheesh, none of you got it right. if you watch a lot of kung fu movies, you should know plenty about mind over matter. In martial arts, it can be simplified by how many trees you can crack in half with your forehead without severe head trauma. Really, it's harder than it looks.

yeah as soon as i started to think about mind over matter. that is when the movie called the metrix system has popped into my head.
