..no I'm not talking about mere headaches...

Got my first 'full on' migraine tonight... started in the evening & very rapidly got worse... these things are terrible!

In a rather short amount of time I hit a point where light with my eyes closed, made me flinch (I went into a dark room, it was the only place I could escape the light in the house) and then they were planning to go out & started spraying perfume shit around & I think that was the last straw for the whole thing, very shortly after that my head hurt so bad I was nauseated, light hurt, smell really hurt my head, and then the waterworks started... not sobbing or even your normal 'crying' tears but my tear glands opened right up & it was a river of them down my face...

Holy fuck I hope I never have to experience pain like that again.

Anybody else here get migraines? If you do, what are the causes? I can usually tell with "just a headache" whether I need to drink water, turn out the lights, etc by where the headache is located... but migraines are new to me..

I get them sometimes. It's hereditary for me. Luckily I haven't had one in a long while. But when I do get them, I have some medication that I take.

i used to have chronic migranes in high school. they suck boatloads of asshole.

My pain center shuts itself off when they happen now.. Still a pain though

I get migraines pretty often. Don't really know why, but my mom gets them too.

i get them. cept i throw up alot when i get them too. so added to the pain i am sick til my muscles ache and im just bringing up stomach acid. i fucking hate them.

im getting headaches alot now. have one now. feeling a little sick but not too bad.

I get them all the time- except medication does not work. I've learned to deal with them though.

that's the worst part, every medication they gave me didn't work for shit. i had vicodin 'scripts that were useless, neurontin which was crap and a few others i can't remember, but they all sucked too.

the worst is when you get them so bad, you just want to scream, but all that comes out is a muffled whisper. And you have nose bleeds for hours at a time.
You try to sleep but you can't. And you try to consintrate on something else like work/ or some other pain- yet it just makes you want to do nothing.
And then you feel sick.

I hate those times.

What works for me is putting something cold on my face or near the temples.

But that's only sometimes- depends on how bad it is.
