Record high economy? Where? Certainly not here in Rhode Island.....rats are leaving here faster than any on the Titanic; the rest of us are listening to the band play on (or we're rearranging the deck chairs)

Job growth? Again, not here; most companies, stifled by the record amount of red tape, pack up and move away......only the companies that have the strangle hold (such as Blue Cross) stick around to gouge out what's left of the money we still have......

As for terrorists.......that, I can't tell you. (Guess I'll have to take your word for that.)

New Englands job growth is kind of slow, its due to our liberal politicians taxing business to death. I assure you though that the job market just south of us and out west is insane. Thats why you got so many Yankees moving down south and all the southerners complaining about it.

The economy was coming back since 2002. The war was justified and meant to secure us more, not to make money. Although that is a nice side effect.

Yeah, but we need jobs HERE. I, for one, will be losing my job come either September or October, and many more will as well......I can't see myself moving to Florida or any point therein.....I have family here, and they aren't getting any younger

As for taxes.......yeah, that's pretty much it, as well as slap happy 'let's-create-a-new-rule-for-this' kind of mentality. It's just nuts.

I am sorry to hear that Mets, join me in voting out the democrats who are making it all but impossible for businesses to thrive in New England. The Dems just tore down any real hope of getting Utopia built in CT, all because they dont think we need the extra traffic problems and plus it will be sitting on top of antique building etc. Theres a 1000 jobs that woulda been coming to CT but wont.

That's just the thing, though; I'm one of those "I like being a Dem, but....." sort of people.....right now I'm leaning toward being Independent just for spite.

As for jobs, well....I'm looking into going to the casino....but I'm undecided.

What? Amnesty, gay marriage, tax increases on the rich, the status quo a la social security, and the big one... an increase in the minimum wage (the one they were actually trying to get passed). You mean those don't encapsulate your needs as an American? What else could you POSSIBLY want/need?!

The amnesty mainly. I don't care about gay marriage one way or the other. I won't be in the country for the 08 election. I'm voting absentee.

I do however agree with conservation of old buildings. Only ones which had an impact on the town itself. In Rupert, Idaho they just spent about 2.5 Million to preserve and remodel the old Wilson Theater I of course am quite happy with this as it was my Great- Grandfather Silas Wilson who built it. Preservation of our American Heritage should be foremost amongst everyones minds.

I am sure that the company could have found another deal somewhere else for property. Properties for businesses are going for fairly cheap right now.

The traffic thingie I completely disagree with. Traffic can be dealt with. Areas will always outgrow their roads and parking.

A minimum wage increase might not be so bad as long as it was kept fairly low. Didn't they want to raise it to like 7$+ or some such crazy crap??

Utopia cannot go anywhere else, its too big. You know its a film studio and college as well as a theme park right? It would have made CT one of the newest places to make Hollywood films, especially since so many of the celebs live in CT already.

And the "historic" bullshit theyre trying to save is a fucking insane asylum built in the 1800s thats been vacant for a good 50 or so years now. Supposedly its haunted. Which is bullshit. I dont give a fuck about olf retard buildings, especially when a new company can come in and bring billions to the local economy as well as 1000s of jobs.

Minimum wage is horseshit designed to piss off companies like McDonalds and Walmart. The numbers crunched time and time again show that the VAST majority of people making minimum wage are under the age of 21. This is just useless anti business feel good bullshit legislation.

Still I am sure the company could have utilized the building as it stands. Yet in this case saving an ancient loonie bin does noone any good.

For anyone having trouble finding a job... you should move out west We have shittons of jobs out here. I am even thinking about applying for a better job just because this is an oppurtunity that will not last for long.
