fuck yeah. Here's the point - you're looking at affirmative action, and you're looking at marijuana. You legalize marijuana, no need for quotas, because really, who's gonna wanna work? -Jon Stewart

but it can open him up to try something new for an activity. he can do it for 30 days and it's for free. to see if he will either like it or not. when he does like it he can actually sign up for it and continue on with the program. if he doesn't like it at least he has put a little experience into it. he doesn't have to continue on with it. he can meet some new people and make some new friends. i think that would great for him.

Kicking ass ninja style is always badass.
But what's the catch here?
Who is the instructor, and what are their credentials?
What school are we talking here? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Well.. kicking has ninjitsu style would be a little different.
But, I've seen a lot of different schools that offer some kind of free trial to get people hooked. Kinda like drug dealers. Yeah, it was a joke.
Seriously tho, this could be cool, but on the same hand, I've seen plenty of Aikedo/Karate/Muay Thai/Jujitsu/Judo/{Insert Style here} dojos that are just some hack that's trying to make some cash. Do a little research, or you might end up being taught bad habits that you'd just have to unlearn if you're serious about it. depends what martial art it is.
i say if you have the ability to listen, take in what is being said, and concentrate, then yes. do it.
if you're an easy quitter, don't. because it is by no means easy.
if you take the time, and keep yourself dedicated, with an open mind, training will make you fitter, stronger, faster, give you better reactions, keep you fit, healthy, teach you dicipline, and be able to look inside yourself for true strength, rather than just relying on what you think is force.
martial arts is not just about beating the shit out of things.
alot of it is about you. but yes you do learn cool moves, ways to control your body, tone your body, use it to your advantage, and unlock some of or maybe if you work hard enough, all of your potential.
I trained to 3rd KYU in shotokan karate. i loved every minute of it. i used to train 5 hours a week minimum in the dojo, at several different clubs as well as my home dojo in my village, and at least one hour each day at home. i trained for about 5 or 6 years. i could have been a black belt by then, but i wanted to really get my skills perfect before taking more exams. sometimes i trained and missed gradings to make sure i was better than i needed to be.
before i left i was in charge of doing all the warmups at my home dojo, and some of the training too. i even represented my club as part of teams and on my own in some national competitions. i tought the new people, i even took the full class sometimes when needed. the club went from strength to strength, what with one sensei having an affair with someone and going off with them, he didn't much care for the club. then a much better sensei took over, which really brought the club up again.
unfortunately due to injury i had to give up. when i returned, my sensei had left, and the club had a new sensei, and the dicipline the club used to have was all but gone.
i tried another club, but gave up. i really wish i hadn't. i'd love to get back into it, i just don't know how i could with my current lifestyle.
try it. you never know where it might lead you. If you think a forum is going downhill, you have no-one to blame but yourself.

| That's part of the reason why I'm posting. As for the second quoted half; I'm not sure what to make of it Quote: |

| Possibly; I don't have an opinion as of yet. Quote: |

| This would most likly be a one month thing only. Learn some stuff; know some people. Afterwards it's back to the daily grind. Moreso to the point: I'm only considering it because my sister has already joined (last month) and she'd like another family member to train with her. In the long run I'd be a punching bag; but if I wanted to continue my training I'd learn from her at home. Quote: |
haha, you make me laugh kendra

| No catch as far as I can tell; it's just a super sweet deal.
The Instuctor and his Credentials are quite good in my un-knowing opinion. The flier listed what seemed like some very good training and the years he has endured. Yes; that's right; refer to it as drugs to motivate me to do it/not to do it. Not that it changes any descision I may/may not make. Quote: |

| My Dad actually new someone who did just that. Made up a 'art, opened a school around a bunch of suckers. Did some really lousy stuff and made a video. He admitted he new diddly squat about what he was teaching; but it paid well. Ha! Quote: |
you should probably poke around and see if they have a 'how not to be a social retard' class instead.
| Are you implying/saying that I'm a social retard? Just wondering. Not much reason here; but the horsegurl did say to do it... Quote:
