When I came here in years past, posts happened all of the time. You could happily kill a half hour waiting for dinner to be ready or whenever else with some good 'ol useless banter. Part of it was that there were so many people and they just kept posting, but it was mostly because we had some interesting conversations taking place in just about every subforum on the board. I remember that we couldn't get people to shut the hell up in politics when I moderated it with Dy.

Get back in gear! Start topics! Waste time! I'm sure that through the years, older members have simply lost some of the time that they used to have (as have I), but there're enough recent joins around here still that there's no reason for us to be so slow. This was a fun forum to post on and I think it was one of the tighter knit groups that I'd seen on the internet despite such a diverse group of people who are a part of it. If you build it, they will come.

In looking around, it seems that there are fewer of the teeny-bopper "OMGZ I'M A GOTH!!!!11!" folks around and maybe that's part of it. If that's the reason, then I'm ok with it. In real life, too, most of them have been supplanted by the "OMGZ I'M EMO!!!!11!!" folks, unfortunately... Luckily, you encounter that brand of person much less as a college senior rather than the high school sophomore that I was when I began posting here. Finally, if you are insulted at all by this specific paragraph, then you are admitting to being a teeny-bopper "OMGZ I LABEL MYSELF BECAUSE I'M SO COOL!!!!1! ANGST ANGST ANGST!!!!!!!!!111" type, and that is punishment enough for you.

Yeah, if you watch the birthdays list. You will notice that most of the posters are now in thier 20's.. They are growing up into pre adults!! LOL

They've all disbanded and gone elsewhere.
Many reasons. New owner, too much spam infiltration, and better places to be.

I'm just sick to death of the spam since the changeover. Spending more time at gothic.org.au & facebook now.

I joined in 2004, which still makes me a n00b compared to some, and I remember when this place was always active. It's a damn shame what's happened. DF has a unique group of people, there were just more of them in the past.

i made the mistake of finishing college, deferring uni a year, deciding to go back to college, hating it, going into work for a couple of years and then starting uni finally. wasted a good 4 years.

Wait, somebody else owns DF now?

It's been awhile since I've been on, not that any of you missed me, but as it goes without saying: getting older sucks! I'm not that old, but what little free time I do have is spent being constructive and creative . . . not that DF isn't a place for such things, but generally when I'm on the internet now it's merely to check my bank accounts, my emails, and occasionally purchase albums off of ebay.

But yes, I too reminisce the old days . . . DF is still my homepage.

Tell me about it - I'm one of the ones in the 20s. Interesting how much changes. The ones who were younger aren't anymore and the ones who were already 'old' are, well, older. But many are still here.

Eesh, I think I used to think I was super-enlightened or something and that no one else had deep thoughts before me. Somewhere on the board there was also a proud declaration of my goth-i-ness. How embarssing. Of couse in 2001 when I joined I was young enough to be very stupid. Weird to think that it was 7 years ago.
