An old Indian chief sat in his hut on the reserve, smoking a ceremonial pipe and eyeing two Indian Affairs officials sent to interview him. "Chief Two Eagles" asked one official, "You have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done." The Chief nodded in agreement.
The official continued. "Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?"

The Chief stared at the government officials for over a minute and then calmly replied, "When white man found the land, Indians were running it.
* No taxes.
* No debt.
* Plenty buffalo.
* Plenty beaver.
* Women did all the work.
* Medicine man free.
* Indian man spent all day hunting and fishing.
* All night having sex."

Then the chief leaned back and smiled... "Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that!"

Yeah.. see that's funny even if you're not Canadian. Cuz... we sorta have them thar "woo woo Injuns" in the US of A, too.

I was always told (and under the impression) that black people are viewed in the states how we treat our indians. You never hear about how the indians were oppressed in the USA....do you? If so, that's something new I'll have learnt today. yay!

massacres, yes. conversions, yes. of course i know all about that. but, i suppose i left out that i'm not counting the american oppression of the natives as harsh as the canadians...but only because the indians whine and complain and get tax relief in canada. it's not like that in the states, is it?

Well it depends on where you're from. There are some places in the US where the French are hated, Swedes in others. Northern states mostly.
In the Southwest and Florida people hate the Hispanic population. In the Dakotas, people talk bad about the Navajo.

We have a good of racial diversity down here. We like to hate multiple ethnic groups so no one feels left out.

I wonder why it doesn't get aired on tv as much then. Not counting family guy ... i mean.. stuff like chris rock.. "black vs. white humor" and all sorts of comedians in the states makes it appear that it's the black vs. white that is the "only" conflict of ethnic groups worth mentioning.

Technically the "minority" in the United States is a white male between 18 and 25 years of age. Who do you think the two dominant races are in the US? Caucasian and African American. It's no longer "whitey bringin' the black man down". Now it's more like.... "That fucking Spic will do work even a nigger won't do."

The hate has expanded to include (of course) people of Arabic descent, Indians, Native Americans (the old standard), Jews, Mexicans, Cubans...

Every group hates another group.
