Any thoughts, im downloading it now... at work. at home im a firefox guy.... but have to have IE for job functions...

anybody have it yet?

just started using it.... not too shabby, they have clearly taken a page from firefox on this one... load times seem to be better than 6.0 and you cant beat tabbed browsing.... so if you HAVE to use IE (like me) get 7.0, its nice.

btw, since its new I strongly recommend a good firewall.

if your using anything microsoft related i would suggest a good firewall, anti-virus, and spyware program and also run as a poer user not as administrator.

"A vulnerability has been discovered in Internet Explorer, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose potentially sensitive information," says an advisory published on the Secunia website.

"The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the handling of redirections for URLs ... This can be exploited to access documents served from another website."

One way the vulnerability could be exploited entails attackers leading users to an infected website, hoping that they will at the same time login to an online bank account. If that happens, the attacker would be able to hijack the user's username and password.

"It is hard to exploit the flaw because it requires the attacker to lure someone to a malicious site, and for the attacker to know what other secure site the visitor might simultaneously have open," said Thomas Kristensen, Secunia's chief technology officer.

Last year Secunia found the same flaw in Internet Explorer 6, but it remains unpatched by Microsoft.

Until the flaw is patched, Secunia says an alternative solution is to "disable active scripting support." Details on how to do this can be found on Microsoft's website.

But a Microsoft spokesman said the reports by Secunia are technically inaccurate.

"The issue concerned in these reports is not in Internet Explorer 7 (or any other version) at all. Rather, it is in a different Windows component, specifically a component in Outlook Express," he said "While these reports use Internet Explorer as a vector the vulnerability itself is in Outlook Express."

Internet Explorer 7 was officially released by Microsoft on Thursday, and is sent through to users as an automatic security update. Users have the option of whether or not to install it on their computer.

Hmmm... i put it on my Laptop. Seems fairly secure with Mcaffee running.

No problems so far.

I use Mozilla Firefox myself but the Wife likes IE.

i'm pretty indifferent, they're both alright. they're practically the same.

as far as ie 7 goes, i imagine it's an improvement on ie6, and maybe more like firefox in some respects. bleh.

IE killed my laptop. It was a sad thing. So I don't use it for internet browsing anymore. Microsoft still owns me though. Not computer saavy enough to go elsewhere.

i have both 6 and 7 on mine atm.. seems that if i try to open a window from IE6, IE7 takes over and confuses itself!!
IE7 ain't so bad.. Yeah the tabbed browsing is okay i guess.. You just have to remember where the tab it just opened fell in the list..

i tried out ie7 for a little bit when i was using the ultimate edition of windows vista 64bit beta 2 on my tower machine, and i must say, i hated it. it looked shitty, it didnt flow properly, the tabs were pretty crap, and well, i just didnt like it. half the bars have dissapeared, i couldnt easily find out how to make bookmarks, i really didn't like it at all.

windows vista is nice, looks pretty snazzy, but so far, there are fuck all drivers for it, and it crashes constantly for no apparent reason. kinda like ie7 did to me.

i can honestly say, i'm going to be sticking with firefox.

its definatly not the answer to web-browsing.... but like I siad, if you have to use IE (at work or whatever) 7 is their best effort to date.
