Today in my Psychology class we were discussing gender roles. Somehow we got on the topic of homosexuality, and whether someone is born gay or it's a product of the environment a person is raised in. One girl stated that if a little boy plays with barbies and plays house with other girls, he's most likely going to turn out gay. Along the same lines, any little girl that plays with gi joes and doesn't play dress up or with dolls is going to turn out to be a lesbian. I for one NEVER played house, I NEVER played with barbies, I NEVER played with other little girls, and I NEVER played dress up. I grew up playing football with boys on the playground and playing Mario Bros and 3 Ninjas with my friends during recess. I played with toy dinosaurs and I collected rocks. I was (and still am) in love with comic books and super hero shows. I was obsessed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Batman. AND I LOVE BOYS! I may be totally supportive of homosexuality in every shape and form, but I love the cock, no questions asked. I know I'm not the only one like this. Not every girl grew up with frilly dresses and pink bedspreads, and they're just like me. So I just thought it was an interesting discussion, and wanted the opinions of people who aren't hicks from the boonies of Minnesota. Besides, it's a hot topic, and a lot of people like to argue for the sake of arguing.

i've heard both that it's a result of environment, but also a chemical imbalance in the brain...*shrugs* i don't know homosexuality, but i did enjoy the company of those i met...there's something nice about sitting getting drunk with a man, not getting hit on and discussing men...

...and found it funny how often my younger sister was hit on by lesbians..it drove her insane, and she had no idea why...i think it was the bar in her tongue...she removed it shortly after several other people suggested that too...now she's in the army...but still very boy crazy...

i don't think the girl who suggested that however has any clue on the basis of homosexuality...i played with transformers and gi joe...i didn't get into dolls until the later years.

I dont think anyone is born gay, its not possible, it would have been cycled out through evolution LOOOONG before now... but i DO believe people are capible of being gay through series of incidents that make them that way. i posted a good article on this for Shy girl in the advice forum under "i think im turning into a guy" thread.

it is easy to understand evolution. its too vast for us to have it "figured out". and if gayness should have "cycled out" thenthere are about 20 trillion other things that should have "cycled out". homosexuality is also apparent in other species that according to you cannot make rational decisions. hell, there is a species of monkey that greats one another by fucking, male or female.

As far as how a gay person becomes gay, well, it's probably different for everyone. I think most people who are gay where just born that way, just like I was born with blonde hair. You can't controll it, you could try to cover it up, but then you'd never be yourself, and that would be a sucky life...
