Everything on that site is WAY overpriced. Go to a ren faire. You can get a good hand forged rapier or longsword for under $150

I know they were hand forged because the guy had a forge right there in the shop, and you could watch him work.

i'll have to agree, i myself had a friend make me an awesome sword...for only fifty dollars, custom designed for live steel fighting...it has the potential to get rather sharp made out of tempered steel,(if one was inclined to file it some edges)however after accidently stabbing him in the eye and slicing his tear duct with a dulled, pointed blade, he made sure the edges were nice and round...

he had a make shift forge made in his garage, they did armor too!...those were fun times.

They are not overpriced. Blade gallery has such expensive knives because a lot of the artists forge knives made from their own damascus steel composed of different alloys, so before they forge a knife of that quality they have to forge a billet for the knife which is a much more time consuming proccess. Finally, a lot of the knives are also furnished with exotic and in some cases antique handle materials. If you folks would like to discuss the art of bladesmithing further I'm going to start a thread on the subject in serious discussions.

fire - meh. but other things that burn like strong acids and bases Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) - that shit burns like a mother. made me some "crimson" soap once upon a time...
