Gary Gigax & Jeff Healy - 03-04-08

Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax dies at 69

Yet more sad news today

Guitarist Jeff Healey dies of cancer at 41 -- Newsday.com

You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

Gygak was so diehard he was playing D&D weekly up until this january
Sucks. He helped create a huge genre that did not really exist before.
Who the hell needed a d20 before D&D

it really sucked that I woke up to the new of Jeff Healey's death yesterday morning. I wasn't really a fan of his, but he was an excellent guitarist for a blind guy.

Gary Gygax's death is another loss to a genre that wouldn't really exist if it weren't for him. I am sure that the whole D&D world is mourning his loss and might be remembered at the next few D&D clubs going on around the world

I'm thinking of doing an old-fashioned dungeon crawl this Sunday in memoriam, with a dragon down on the bottom level...heck, I could even dust off my old 1st edition books for it.

Healey was an amazing guitarist. I remember hearing he had health problems, but I didn't realize they were that bad. Now Gygax, I knew, was headed downhill, but he's been so far out of the loop lately I hadn't heard much concerning his condition.

That would be really cool, but I think a single day wouldn't cute it. That would need to be a weekender

Hehehe...I usually don't find that show funny, but the ones where they have that LARPing geek squad are hilarious.

I've talked over the guys I do games with, most of them don't really know d+d but are interested in doing a game.

there was only one guy who doesn't live around us any more who did d20 and he's buggered off.

apparently he also sucked at d+d DMing. did campaigns where people died in 1 shot from the first monster.... :|

So, i've taken on the task of writing and DM'ing a short dungeon campaign for a few people

Luckily my friend has all the books i need (since mine were stolen) and I'm gonna run a short crawl hopefully in the next couple of weeks. was gonna be today but had to work on the van. i look forward to it, my first go at dm'ing.
