About a month ago I noticed a big grey lump next to the bus stop near where I work. The lump turned out to be a rock molded out of plastic. I've been waiting for the rest of the Zen garden to appear, but the poor imitation rock does not appear to be part of a larger landscaping scheme. Today I found out what the "rock" is for: It covers some new sewer equipment.
I hope it is not intended as a safety measure.

If I came across a big fake rock, you better believe I'd be curious. Just because you're content to play with your own balls and walk around in a perpetual state of stupidity doesn't mean the rest of us are. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

you shouldn't show this to my mother, she would probably go into a soaring rage. she has this obsession with landscaping the yard with rocks. she has been going to the construction sites around winchester (and there are many) to fill up the back of the subaru with rocks. then, she makes me sit in the yard and form them into a virginia style slave wall for her garden.
fortunately, the wall is complete now and there's no more space in our yard for projects like this. however, she still hoards rocks without knowing what to do with them like it was some compulsion.
once, i suggested she get this product called "rock lock" which is a wall section of polyethylene "rocks" that lock together at paralell or right angles. she went into a rage about how there would be no "imposter rocks" in her yard.
she's on her naturopathic/pyramid scheme kick right now, so the rock thing is past for the most part. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

You have rock fences in VA too? I thought stone fences were a KY thing. There is even a coffee table book about them.
I heard a report on NPR about manufactured rocks, which are to be used when transportation of actual rocks would be impractical (enclosed courtyards, etc.). I think they're generally a little more high end than my rock though.

If that's what you call "socialization" then consider me a bigger misanthrope than Jonathan Swift, mark my words. In fact, I'm waiting until after I turn 18 to publish my poetry so I can change my name from "Tim Meloni" to something more appropriate. I just don't know what that would be yet, probably a portmanteau word combining the name of a great writer with a great philospoher. But again, nothing is certain... Just keep in mind that some of the best modern writers have been willing to appear in their works in a capacity other then a narrorator blessed with preternatural omnipotence. Certainty of outcome makes for a boring story; however, if you have a written work where the main character shows themselves to be human and falliable. It creates something that the reader can empathize with so that they will feel invested in the outcome of the narrative. de vagorum ordine dico vobis iura
