my depression is baseless and unlike bipolar depression, makes no sense at all and lasts for days.

Its a state of mind, I have thought about this forever. I have been depressed, and I realized that the cure was just not to be it. I have been clinicly diagnoced with depresson and I just told the doctor to screw off, it made me feel good, I hate pills.
I get depressed when other people decide that they control my life, so I dont let them. I do fine at work, WHY? It would seem like they try to control me, but, they arent controlling me if I ask for the work, if I go up and say "can I go get some carts" and they say "Yes good job" I feel good, I made my own coice, and I was complamented for it.
Anoher great way to get depressed is to set unacheiveable goals, if somone asks me what I want to do with my life, I say:
"I wanna learn to spell better, and I wanna be able to bench 150 and support a family"
I can firmy say, that If I were to keep my job at Hy-Vee for the next ten years, I would be making a fine amount of money to support a 4 person family if My spouce held a job as well. Every one wants to make a 60k+ salary, I sure as heck dont. I just want to live and be happy, family or no family. Notice I never said I wanted to have a family that is an option, I want to be able to support a family.
You can be depressed if people are constantly being down on you, just dont let them bother you. I mean serously, till second quarter HS everyone made fun of me, no one does now, I live a happy social life and do anything a normal kid does. I just poked fun back and never took it serously and I got to be friends wit them, depression is a choice, but its sort of passive.

those that love the most hurt the most, and depression so often seems to be loving people that are distracted by their own pain.
it's funny how that which can cripple you might also be exactly what could make you a pivotal human being.

well i think:

a condition- i think it is something a doctor says you have, or have developed... so yeah

a stage in life- i think everyone has gone through depression at one point in life.

a problem- well yeah it can give you negative thoughts, of harming yourself and/or suicide

it is a state of mind..... you let yourself be depressed, you have complete control of it...... when you refuse to accept control of it, it becomes a condition....

I would say that it is a mental state because as ghettocowboy said you can put yourself there and in all fairness it is because Ive been there and feel like I let myself go there quite frequently. I would be crap to be depressed all your life but how would you know that you are if you had never experienced anything else. I also feel that it is a feeling (in my case) of hopelessness and inevitability of life and having no control. Also it can be seen as my psychologist liked to call it *pressure* pressure of everything piling on top of you until you just finally snap.

Used to be hella depressed back in the days of highschool and such. You know,wore the black,spikes,etc. I am happier now,as I Have grown to not make the same mistakes of the past,and not care.This makes me not carry so much of any burden from any inferior monkey man.
