yes they have these blanket prides and i honestly think they're a bit mundane.

and you also have to remember the history behind "white pride." when someone says something about "white pride/power" within a group of people the most common response is to remember the racist and oppressive views from early america. sure not everyone is going to think this way but a lot of people will.

and when people have "azn pride" or "latino pride" its not usually associated with wanting to blot out all other races and make the gene pool "pure" as white pride was associated with.

If you wanna have pride in being white, fine. but if you have pride that's meant to push others down then there's a problem.

The only difference is PCism labels those racists as good and decent people trying to understand thier heritage, trying to love thier ancestors accomplishments.. while a white kid who tries to hold a european or white club during a schools "diversity" month is labeld a Skin head or Neo Nazi...

I for one and proud to be white.. i would say proud to be italian... but the fact is im a vast mix of European races and cultures so i blanket myself as white.

Have you ever met someone who spouts azn pryde or latino pride? i was beaten by a group of black kids when i was young for being white.. they had "black power" just like Malcom X.

why the hell should ANYONE be proud of the color of their skin... its JUST SKIN... everyone has it... just not the same shade all the time. how does THAT make any difference?

i've met both groups and i've actually had friends in both. the ones i've met have for the most part been well balanced human beings with a pride in where they came from. i've met a couple off their rocker but that's to be expected they are afterall human.

and i'm just as against "black power" as i am "white power." for the most part i associate black power with extremist groups who commit hate crimes.

to me power is one thing. pride is another. power is trying to lift up your group to empower and dominate all others. pride is just feeling good for who you are.

and yes i know things are different everywhere you go but these are my experiences.

I urge you to come to NY and meet Asians who sput "asian pride" just try talking to them and see what they say.

My girlfriend who is chinese also claims that "asian" pride is thinly veiled racism.

I had a friend in Highschooll she is Vietnamese. She was friendly and everything.. but she didnt date white guys... i figured eh thats fine i cant blame her for that... because she demonstrated she was still my friend. WHen she graduated and moved to UCONN she literaly cut off ALL her white and non asian friends.. telling them she discovered that she had asian pride and prefers to be around only asians...

this is exactly what i find asian pride to be everywhere i go.

gangs and pride are imo completely opposite sides of the pride scale. usually gangs form when there's a need for protection. when that need is gone the gang sticks around and grubs up power.

and hun, i'm on a college campus and i grew up next to a different one. i've met and befriended people with "AzN PRyde." I haven't come across a group as racist as the ones you've seen. maybe that's something specific to your area.

and as for diversity week, if you named your club as something other than "white pride" or whatever you may have a better response.

I don't condone this sort of "pride" and i never will. infact i don't condone extremists of any sort. its possible that in time the whole azn pride trend will be revealed for what it is, racism. just as the black panthers are now thought of as a racist extremist group.
