weapons for me would be -

pumpy

katana

pair of semi automatic pistols

grenades.

nail gun.

chainsaw.

rifle

catapult.

chainsaw and nail gun not only for zombie slashing/shooting but for barricade production.

grenades for group solution, pumpy for fun or easy dismembering, katana for slice and dice up close fun, pistols for other instances.

rifle for precision destruction.

grenades could also be used with nails and small containers for nailbombing.

catapult for launching grenades and any other projectile package easily.

i wonder, has anyone actually said grenades yet? theyre probably the best for stopping group onslaughts.

of course my faves (in a movie kind of way) would be - minigun, and explosive shell launcher thingy that arnie has in T2. dunno what theyre called... but yeah.

The "shell launcher thingy" is the M79 40mm Break Action Grenade Launcher
Good choice for those groups of zombies well out of throwing distance. Not really useful for anything close in an urban enviroment and hitting anything at distance is a matter of proficiency. Not a weapon you can just pick up, point, and shoot-and really expect to hit much. Grenades are not "best" for stopping group onslaughts. Their effects are severely over dramatized in movies. As someone who has not only thrown them, but instructed on their use, you can trust me on this. Grenades have a 5 meter kill radius. M18 Claymore anti-personnel mines that I mentioned earlier have a 100 meter kill radius. Also the M136 84mm Rocket disables Armored vehicles thus it is also up to the task of group zombie removal. Both are user friendly and easy to teach making them a good choice. Something I wanted to interject earlier but actual work came up and I was distracted... Are these "voodoo" or "magic" zombies or a "chemical/science" caused zombies. If they were created and still utilized electrical signals from the brain as in resident evil nerve agents would in theory still be effective and up to the task of cleaning up a city full of zombies (and any humans there not wearing proper NBC gear) I agree with Tozzy on the importance of thi nail gun, i missed that one. Fortification would definately help

i dare say claymores are a little harder to come across than standard frag grenades. 5m is still good enough for me. i wouldnt expect myself to be anywhere where a grenade wouldnt suffice without creating structural damage to the buildings/barracades around me. 100m is too much unless you're in a field. in a suburban area, you're likely to send shot into buildings and suchlike around you. i want to kill zombies. not destroy potential barricadable strongholds.

and don't forget the zombie domino effect. throw two grenades into a crowd or small group, and the confusion would give enough time to reload and start shooting.

i'd put claymores in my "hollywood" list. as in, if i was in a movie, i'd like this shit.

Really? - 11-23-06

Hmmm. Claymores are a anti-personnel mine. Not anti-material. The claymore works by sending ball bearings slightly larger than bb's forward in a forward radius resemling a chinese fan laying flat. While having a kill zone 100m forward there is a 15m danger area to the rear of the mine. That's how we don't blow ourselves to shit when placed on our perimeter and in front of dead space. ball bearings don't level buildings. Placed correctly at the mouth of an alley or the beginning of a street you can remove the crowd instead of "confusing" it at the cost of a few glass windows you would loose to stray grenade shrapnel anyway. Very easy to use-the mine even has a label that reads "this side tward enemy". I guess confined space at4 could be a problem if you missed your target. Swordfish made reference to "Human claymore" but they used more than ten times the amount of c4 as a real mine and ball bearings more than marble sized. Grenades are used in a flanking manuver to flush enemy out of a fortified/unfortified fighting position/machine gun emplacement. Suppressive fire to the front. Flank. Grenade into position. Those that stay probobly die. (if there is a proper sump they have a chance) those that leave cut down by the fire from front and/or flank(s). Very basic stuff. lost on zombies that don't care.
I always get a little angry at the military's part in these movies. They are almost always instantly overrun and killed. Our weapons and tactics are geared tward professional soldiers that are well armed and possibly armored. TRUST ME! though we don't specifically train for slow moving low dexterity crowds of biters, our training and armament would more than suffice. It irks me how the military gets wiped out but civilian BOB with 1/64th the training and weapons experience wades his way through a movie of near misses at the cost of a comrade or two.
If you say "grenade", I say "have fun!" We all have our opinons I guess. Over the decade I have been using/traning/teaching with these weapons and munitions I have formed an idea for their best suited uses and emplacement (for the removal of real threats). It seems very much to me like a home depo sales rep telling a well known and established commercial and residential contractor that it's much better to frame out a house using a finishing hammer. Well, I didn't mean to sound like a dick but it sure reads that way, doesn't it? Being a Staff Sergeant in the type of unit i am in i don't think it would be harder to get one over the other. I have never bought munitions illegally but with the amount of mines used by militaries vs grenade use, it should actually be easier to pick up mines. (especially Russian cold war surplus)
While I respect your opinion I guess I'll just have to agree to disagree.

I was walking around a little store here on the forward operating base i'm on, and i read the cover of the scariest zombie movie ever. The republicans had a war going (i'm guessing the war here) and they turned all the soldiers who died into zombies so they could vote in the next election. Gave me the willies... I can't belive someone actually laid down money to produce that movie...
