So, just about 5 minutes ago, I'm surfin' through Philosophy when BAM! it takes me to this brand new web page that says "Darkforum" on the top but isn't darkforum, then immediately begins to download something, but it's happening so fast I can't stop it nor figure out what exactly it is, then when it tries to install I get an "Error" message that closes my explorer. Then, when I re-open explorer all of my cookies are gone.

Theories?

Does anyone know how to delete or put a stop to a Trojan without having to actually buy any fuckin' anti-virus shit or downloading a hacked-anti-blah, blah, blah?

Okay...here's what I did...anyone know if this is a good idea?

I downloaded this program called Autorun that shows you everything that "autoruns" when your computer is set up. I rebooted in safemode, found everything that was dated today or lacked a date, deleted all of them with Autorun and in my C drive. Rebooted, and voila...I'm back on the net! Yay for me!

I got 2 viruses from college football theme tablecloths, a site darkforum linkedme to, luckily Im not an idiot so I erased them from my hard drive. I say we hack back.

Something similar happened to me yesterday...I think that some ad thing popped up and the same time it did I got a notification from one of my antivirus progs that it blocked a worm attempt.

It was pretty helpful. It even links a page that has all sorts of autorun, start-up files and whether or not they're viruses or even needed. Sadly though, mine were not on the list. But I fond them anyway. Like I said, I followed their directions and all seems well. But every so often I'm going to run a virus scanner just to make sure.

I don't fuck around when it comes to net security. I just go ahead and pay for the Norton and run Spybot every so often. Works peachy for me.
