It's a pretty crazy feeling. I'm leaving everything behind and going to Basic Training in a hair over a week. Most of my stuff is packed up, and I've been spending all of my time with my few friends and my fiancee. I just can't believe it's so close!

After I leave, I'll be gone for around 3 months, maybe a hair longer. Then I won't be able to post much, but after a few more months I should be able to.

Bring me back some captain bars and one of those invunrable sheilds I`ve heard so much about.

well goodluck duddy. my love is a marine and he went through basic training almost two years ago. he said it was hell but fun (but then he s fucking crazy so i dont know what he constitutes as fun). he said just as long as you know what the DI's or drill segeants are there for youre good to go. (to make you feel like shit).
see cuz most people break down becuz of them. i dont know, they expect some kind teddy bear treatment from them or something.

lets just hope you dont end up being one of those guys they have to drag up the hill crying. :no:

just stay strong duddy and before you go away i just have to tell you this: I've always LOVED your fucking avatar man, it just cracks me up everytime i look at it. its funny and cute!

It is a big life change Duddy. That first week in Basic Training will seem unreal, but after a month you will be used to it.

It will be rough sometimes, but that will make you tough.

You will make some new buddies and you will find out its really true that servicemen do more before 0900 hrs than what most people do all day.

After you graduate basic training and go to your new duty station, I really recommend that you get a camera and take up photography. You will have lots of memories and you will want the photos so as to really share your stories with everyone back home.

I'm pretty excited about basic, I think it will be kinda fun, in a way. I'm almost 22, so I'll be a lot more mature than 90% of the other kids in there, which are 18 and never really been away from home. I come from a military family also, so I know all about basic. I'm looking forwards to being a stronger person, physically and mentally, after basic. I just don't want to lose my hair I remember my brother talking about how hard he worked when he was in the Army.

My AIT training is in Montery, California, at the DLI, and I'll definitely be taking pictures there. I've got two disposable cameras just about full right now, trying to get all the memories of home I can before I go.

My brother told me to always remember three things about drill Segeants in basic: Don't take what they say personal, they can't touch you, and they can't kill you. Work as a team and blend in and you'll be fine.

I have to say I have a huge amount of respect for you waiting that long for your love. Tons of respect :thumbsup:
