First, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I support the right of a company to do this. This can only happen if the company has a policy against hiring smokers, and they have every right to use a policy like that.

I heard about this on the radio. The employees' case is being handled as a privacy issue. They refused to take the test.

i don't think insurance companies really care about that. pot hasn't been proven to cause lung cancer, otherwise there wouldn't be medical uses for it. last i heard they weren't producing medical marlboros.

Come to canada... Smoking is not permitted in bars anywhere in Ontario... It sucks... Im sick of non-smokers telling me where I can and can't smoke... Next time I see a fat non-smoker telling that smoking is bad... Im gonna tell him/her that obesity will kill them off long before I die... yeah, they tried to pass an anti-smokin' law in cincy a few months ago.....the city council more or less told 'em to go fuck theirselves.......i doubt anti-smokin' laws will ever pass for Ohio, seein' how we're right next to kentucky and indiana, which produce mad amounts of tobacco.....

While the hiring policy may be legal and legit and all that, it's kind of ridiculous. I'm perfectly capable of working a full shift without smoking a cigarette. I've done it before. Would suck to be turned down for a job simply because I smoke.
